COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Goatman is a hybrid of beer styles. It’s inspired by the hairy and horned, territorial terror that is said to live around White Rock Lake, startling visitors with flying trash and a nasty attitude. This dark, unique brew is a melding of a West Coast Black IPA and a German Schwarzbier, encompassing all of the sticky, bitter bite you love, with a smooth, roasted malt body balancing it all out. It’s enough to curl your toes – or maybe your hooves.

Aroma: definitely not like a typical black IPA; sweet and malty; almost sickly sweet; Appearance: pitch black with thin tan head; Taste: very interesting and complex; starts roasty and malty and ends a bit hoppy; not expected at all; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet/bitter finish; Overall: impressive for Lakewood; probably wouldn't get again but can respect it.

Bottle thanks to wombat23. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Strong aroma of overripe plum and dark berry. Taste is sweet up front, slowly turning bitter at the finish with ashy notes. Body is full, velvety, creamy. Warm and alcoholic at the end. Nice!

Don't try black lagers too often. This one definitely takes on characteristics of a heavier porter. Almost a stout. Very lacy on the snifter. Medium aftertaste. Good! I'd have it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Jet black pour, finger + of billowy mocha. Nose is woody hopiness. Bittersweet. Middle is a blast of charred black malt, caramel, hop resin, coffee grinds. Finish is velvety, and a little more bitter than sweet. Interesting.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 16.08.2017
Aroma is a bit odd with some cocoa and vanilla. Also salty licorice. Flavour has grapefruity hops, salty licorice, some mild vanilla tones, and coffee. A bit too salty but not bad.
