NikkTwist (4993) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 5, 2021
UPDATED: OCT 5, 2021 Draft at Strangeloves. Very dark brown pour with slim beige foam. Dark caramel. Vanilla. Not much more there. Smooth finish. Big but easy.

ganache (6721) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 8, 2020
UPDATED: SEP 8, 2020 Can from Super Buy Rite. Nose deep, rich chocolate and cacao nibs, sweet with coffee and slight bg fruit. Pour dark brown darkening to fully opaque pitch, with a foamy light brown head. Taste medium-strong sweet with light bitterness, just a hint of mild tang, but overwhelming rich chocolate throughout, wave upon wave with that lovely (slightly nutty) nib character; medium malt with a little lactose / milky sweetness, very smooth fullish body with just gesture of hops, mild alcohol, a little coffee in the smacking aftertaste. Just a hint of red berry and grape with low mineral. Exactly what she says she is! Buy it by the sixer! [2020.09.07: 3.8]

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2020 Super deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying tan and off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, bunches of vanilla pods, anise, a dose of caramelised sugars and a heavy strong molasses and lactose note - very nice. Medium-bodied; Strong rich malty and milk-based/cream flavours dominate at first with bunches of roasted malt, anise and deeper flavours that have a lot of bitterness, but also a bunch of sweetness that all end with a strong alcohol bite, but tempered by the grain and the sugars, which are quite pervasive. Medium to almost Full-bodied; Strong rich grainy and oatmeal flavours dominate with mostly malt up front, but the molasses and caramelised sugar flavours dominate soon afterwards and lead into the more sweet flavours of vanilla and of course - loads of chocolate with a light bitterness from coffee at the end. Aftertaste shows a dense creamy, lactose and milky finish with a lot of body and a good deal of balancing sugars in the form of raisins and chocolate. Overall, a very nice milk stout that shows some deeper characteristics, while being fairly easy-to-drink and very smooth around the edges, even for being a very fresh beer! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Total Wine in Springfield, Virginia on 20-October-2019 for US$2,79 sampled at home in Washington on 14-January-2020.

JStax (10651) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 3, 2019
UPDATED: AUG 3, 2019 12 ounce can poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a dark brown with a beige head of lasting foam. Boozy dark chocolate aroma. Decadent. Some oaky notes in there. Mildly sweet. Thicker mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Far exceeds expectations.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2019 Roasty. Smooth with slightly grainy texture. Loaded with chocolate! Tastes more legitimately chocolatey than other chocolate stouts.

thebeerbandit (301) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 20, 2018
UPDATED: NOV 20, 2018 11/20/18 On tap at PHL early for my flight. Opaque dark brown with almost no head. Nose is super sweet chocolate milk. Taste is light, sweet and surprisingly crisp. Not nearly as thick & heavy as expected. Lots of clean malt. Almost like a Yoo-hoo version of an AAL. Palate is light & fluffier than the lack of head would indicate but in the thinner side overall. Overall, a tasty brew but not as good as what I’ve come to expect from such a wonderful brewery. So light that I feel the “double stout” moniker is a hindrance. An merely good beer among a fleet of amazing brews at LBC.

Jabah (2479) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - OCT 20, 2018
This is milky, and chocolatey....but the balance leans a bit towards the sweet side Dark black appearance with a mocha head. Semi-creamy texture. It's ok, but may be a little overboard on the malt. I'll try the regular milk stout next.

(Tap) clear, bright; very dark brown colour with a small beige head; aroma of vanilla, milk chocolate; smooth palate; balanced flavour with a long, very light bitter finish

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2018 Pours a dark black with minimal head. Aroma is chocolately goodness. Tastes like eating a dark chocolate bar and smoking a fat Cuban cigar. Love it. The only thing to make it prefect would be a thick head.
