COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sawtooth Ale is an English style Extra Special Bitter. It is an extremely well balanced beer, with significant hop character, medium body, and a maltiness which increases in evidence as the beer warms to its "proper" drinking temperature. . The water used is quite hard, bringing it to near Burton on Trent levels, keeping it true to the style. This gives it the appropriate character and improves the malt extract significantly.
2000 to 2009 vintages - 4.75% abv
2010 vintage - 5.3% abv

UPDATED: MAR 14, 2021 Copper color with a medium sized off-white head. The aroma is faint with grains and breads. The taste comes across to my taste buds as rye bread and some lingering caramel. There is a moderate bitterness that offsets the caramel nicely. The palate is crisp and full. overall a rather nice bitter.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2019 14 oz. draft at Brewery Bar II. Here's one that I am shocked I haven't rated before. This is an excellent British ale. It has that caramelly, bready malt bod balanced by a pretty hefty hop bite. It avoids being overly sweet but it's certainly not dry. The yeast imparts a gentle fruitiness and musty character. Very clean and to style as expected.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2019 Hat off to the Left Hand guys who keep this non commercial style alive and not making 5 IPAs instead . Beautiful, amber color, big off-white head . Toasted caramel, herbs , hint of minerals. Malty taste with moderate sweetness.
