bigcat03 (568) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - JUN 8, 2020UPDATED: JUN 8, 2020 Bottle poured into an altbier glass. Golden color with a doozy white head that goes away quickly. Aroma is malty and skunked. Initial taste is kind of corny and artificially sweet. Almost like a light beer. Not worth finishing. Drainpour.
KevinReddirt (1138) - Midland, Texas, USA - MAR 6, 2020UPDATED: MAR 6, 2020 I find Kolsches a decent departure from the Belgian ales and the imperial stouts I most prefer. This 12 oz bottle was discovered in the pick-6 rack at the neighborhood HEB. And I point out that the label now calls this beer 'Canoe Paddle Kolsch' for what it is worth. I lift the cap and tilt into my ABGB snifter to determine a very clear, straw yellow body with a pure white head charged by a healthy carbonation. The scent is lemon and straw. With a drink I taste a light citrus, water, grain and a noticeable sweetness. Not an objectionable beer. On a hot summer day and a bottle pulled from a tub of ice water, this could be pretty fine.
geeklimit (388) - USA - FEB 10, 2020UPDATED: FEB 10, 2020 Pours a clear light Amber with champagne carbonation. Large, white foam head. Great yeast aroma. Complex spice taste with a yeasty malt background. Thick mouthfeel.
jmlour72 (2) - - JUL 19, 2019 does not count UPDATED: JUL 19, 2019 Wasn’t sure about this beer when I found it, but I’m glad I gave it a try. It’s a good beer, not too sweet, not too hoppy, just a nice refreshing beer that goes down way to easily.
Mr.Spooks (4080) - Tennessee, USA - JUN 30, 2019UPDATED: JUN 30, 2019 Pretty much how you’d expect a shitty fake microbrewery to interpret a Kolsch. Mild grainy sweetness, slight lemon/apple notes, no hops, seltzery finish, a light macro lager in everything but label. Hard pass.
Susie33 (1907) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2019UPDATED: JUN 30, 2019 Light golden pour. Decent lace. Earthy smell. Tastes of hops and sweet grass.
obguthr (10432) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2019UPDATED: JUN 30, 2019 Grass and plastic nose. Clear golden, medium head. Plastic, chemical, lightly sweet hay. Light body, moderate carbonation
mattyb101 (2) - - JUN 21, 2019 does not count UPDATED: JUN 21, 2019 Love the hint of rye in this beer. Adds a little spice note which I appreciate. Clear, clean, and refreshing on a HOT day. Would recommend this beer served cold.
TkmLinus (628) - POOLER, Georgia, USA - JUN 15, 2019UPDATED: JUN 15, 2019 12 oz. bottle. Smells of corn, like a lager. Color is yellow with a hint of orange, clear. Taste is refreshing, can taste the corn, the hops play nicely with the carbonation. Semi-sweet finish. A decent lawnmower/ out in the sun beer.
hershiser2 (7469) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUN 15, 2019UPDATED: JUN 15, 2019 $2.06 bottle, Total Wine - Short Pump. How do you follow up the best beer you've ever had? With a beer I can't imagine I'll like, that's how. Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma is lemon zest, beer-tent beer. Flavor is sweet grass, corn, sugar water. It's not horrendous, but this is like corn syrup and water with some grass and grain mixed in. I would never buy this again.
