UPDATED: OCT 23, 2019 12 ounce bottle One of those ubiquitous beers you find all over the place, this rather predictable release is best used as a baseline for Leinenkugel's other products. A no frills dark lager will not change your mind but could be one of those ideal gateway beers for people looking to dip their toes in the waters of craft beer. AROMA / APPEARANCE Light coffee, iced tea, and chocolate bitter the air with the scent of a Hershey's candy bar. The fluid black base swirls freely with the hue of Dr Pepper at the edges. FLAVOR / PALATE Bubbly cola, light coffee, and creamer refresh the tongue as a mild splash of dark fruit emerges. The light carbonated transition melts into a lean finish of flat cola and bitter cocoa. There's nothing exceptional but if you've really tapped out all your local options then this passable choice does provide a baseline for average.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2021 I love Leinies beers!!!! I saw this in a pick6 area and grabbed it at once. Very smooth with a creamy, lasting head. Almost a chocolate aftertaste. Very rich with a great flavor. Not overwhelming like a Dunkel, but smoother and lighter and with a GREAT taste. Wonderful beer. I have to get it from Chicago and take it home to GA, because GA distrib. only give out their goofy IPA - 150% hops all the time - 'great' beers. The stuff tastes like crap, but they dont allow anything else into the stores in GA. GA - the state where you get any beer you want, as long as it is an IPA. original - 4.2, downgraded due to age of review to move it off list

UPDATED: APR 11, 2019 Passable w/ nothing terribly wrong! Pours a flat black w/ almost no head or lacing. Aroma is very light malt. Taste is dark malt & relatively smooth. No real complaints considering the brewer.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2018 Found out of bottle from a variety pack. Appealing light black with heavy foam. Really enjoyable flavors throughout but drinks more like a black lager/ very light porter.

355ml Flasche. Klar und schwarz mit minimaler Schaumkrone. Cremig mir Röstaromen. Malzig. Gut trinkbar. Lecker.

Not bad. It is creamy with some toasty malts. Some malts in aroma with a smooth palate. Easy to drink. Goes well with basic foods. Bottle.

Thick creamy off white head. Dark ruby color. Little funkiness in the taste. Just OK.

Leinenkugel's Creamy Dark has a thick, creamy, beige head, a dark brown appearance, and some splotchy glass lacing. Aroma is of brown bread crust and sweet malt. Taste is of those elements, a bit of char, and some balancing hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium and somewhat creamy, and Creamy Dark finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT

The aroma is roast malt and dark chocolate. Dark brown in color with a minimal sized head. Lightly sweet flavor of chocolate, cocoa, and coffee. Medium body with a very smooth, moderately creamy texture.
