COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Long Trail Ale is a full-bodied amber ale modeled after the “Alt-biers” of Düsseldorf, Germany. Our top fermenting yeast and cold finishing temperature result in a complex, yet clean, full flavor. Originally introduced in November of 1989, Long Trail Ale beer quickly became, and remains, the largest selling craft-brew in Vermont. It is a multiple medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival.

Aroma - very mild nose. Malt backbone is preeminent and it's slightly sweet. Appearance - body is hazy coppery brown. Head is beige and around 1 1/2" and fluffy. Head settles slowly. Some dappled lacing. Taste - has a toasty malt sort of biscuity. Hops are muted. There is a tannic nature. Palate - body is medium, texture is smooth, carbonation is average, finish is slightly astringent and some gum soaking through its tannic nature.

This beer is always a great choice if you don't know what you feel like drinking. Very session-able however it has complex malt notes as well as a hoppy bitterness at the end. I highly recommend if you haven't tried this beer before. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft taproom. I’m sure I’ve had this before but alas it’s not rated. Pours golden Amber with a small beige head. Flavor is grassy, brown leaves, caramel malt. Decent.
