COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Perhaps no country embraces the use of fruit in beers more so than Belgium. Numerous traditional as well as regional specialty ales are infused with every sort of fruit imaginable. In this way, the flavor of the fruit becomes especially prominent. Red Poppy Ale is a veritable celebration of Sour Cherries in an explosion of aromas and tastes. Brewed from a brown ale base and aged in our oak barrels for over 6 months, this beer is not for the faint of heart. The Golden Poppy is the state flower of California and the Red Poppy is found in Flanders Fields where our inspiration for this beer comes from.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2021 Bottle, thanks Hrabren! Brown, reddish body, off white head. Lovely raisins, tart, perfumey aroma, very well integrated acidity. Lean, tart taste, citric, funk, bitter lemone well balanced and drinkable, cherries are there, fermented out. Quite good, not fantastic on my book.

Miły (749) - Kielce, POLAND - JUN 5, 2021
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2021 Wygląd: Barwa miedziana, klarowna z pomarańczowo-miedzianymi refleksami. Całość uzupełnia niska słodowość chlebowa i akcent wanilii. Finisz wytrawny, taniczny z nutami przejrzałych wiśni i dębiny. Ogólnie: Przyjemne, średnio intensywne, bez szału. Niewiele wiśni i praktycznie brak maku. Na duży plus przyjemna, 'dojrzała' taniczność.

jarvo (1347) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2020
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2020 Pours a cloudy ruby brown with a tan head; aroma of cherries, wood and spices. Taste is a very nice balance of sweet and sour fruit, poppy seed spice, and restrained funk. I noticed that, by coincidence, I’d drunk this on 11th November, armistice or ‘poppy’ day!

Kiezmar (2545) - Krakow, POLAND - JUL 21, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 21, 2020 W aromacie dużo ciemnych owoców, wiśni i lekki ocet. Fajna waniliowa słodka kontra. W smaku mocno drewniane, mocno taninowe. Pestka, lekki funk, troszkę czerwonowinne. Gładkie, zbalansowane, no mimo octu pyszka.

fiery1 (4103) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 8, 2020
UPDATED: APR 8, 2020 375ml bottle @ home. 2015 Vintage, cellared for 4 years. Pours a hazy rusty reddish brown colour with a small beige head. Nose is sour cherries, oak, and gentle toasted malt. Flavour is upfront semi-sweet quickly lending way to a more so sour cherry character, then the sour brown ale comes to light with an oak influence. Light bodied, decent carbonation, and a mild sweetness with a moderate sourness. Interesting and decent.

frozencemetery (38) - Massachusetts, USA - FEB 5, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 5, 2020 Cocoa-colored with tan head that doesn't stick around. Carbonation produces foamy head which lingers. Vinous, lactic aroma. Extremely sour to the point it's difficult to taste anything. Very dry finish with vinous aftertaste. Feel like I need to drink something between sips to rehydrate my mouth. I want to like this given the other positive reviews, but I'm just not seeing it. Overall: too sour, too little going on, and I'm not convinced the cherries or poppies are doing anything.

Fajne kwaśne i cierpkie piwko.
