gripweed57 (5605) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAY 15, 2017From old tasting notes. Cloudy pale gold color. Huge fluffy white head. Tart lemon peel malt nose. Tart, yeasty malt flavor with lots of bitterness. Intense malt/hop flavor from start to finish. Similar to Duvel in style, but lacks the complexity.

Passed it’s prime. Still some signs of a remarkable beer, but too old even for my taste.
BeerRenter76 (1097) - Texas, USA - NOV 11, 2015Originally rated on 5/14/08- "A nice looking pale, hazy golden body with plenty of yeast flakes floating around, a thick white head. The first taste wasnt agreeable, I was greeted by a strong barley/ yeast taste, and the alcohol was pronounced. The flavors settled a bit after the second/ third sip, and it finished well. Overall it was a decent brew.

Aroma- Has a nice mix of beer and fruit
Appearance- A murky golden yellow color with small white head;
Taste- Had a grain and citrus flavor that melded nicely
Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation and has a creamy to oily feel. Pretty good
Overall- I enjoyed this brew, it is worth a try and it has a very nice alcohol content
kraddel (10779) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JAN 1, 2015Thnx to Patrick.
Pours clear blonde ok white foam.
Smell is bit dusty, sweet, malts, madeira.
Taste is madeira, sweet malts. Very common taste for an aged blonde. Nice, slightly bitter ( faded) aftertaste

Alengrin (9649) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 4, 2014One of the Duvel offspring, created by Riva in 1984; when it went bankrupt in 2008, the brewery was taken over by Moortgat, but since Moortgat already had Duvel itself, this particular beer brand was sold to Het Anker. The original Riva version had a hazy light blonde colour and creamy snow white head, a softer and fruitier, but also less inspired character than Duvel and a plastic-like, phenolic finish which bothered me a bit. Nothing compared to the real thing, but enormously improved since Het Anker took it over.
