A golden haze for a summer’s daze. Elder Betty is a weiss-style ale with a bready malt flavor balanced by a touch of hops and complimented by the tart berry flavors of elderberry.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2019 Pours hazy amber with a thick white head. Aroma of lactosebacillus. Taste has dark fruity notes, elderberry and coriander on wheat. Palate has slight sour elements overlain by the elderberry.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2019 Well....I'll admit. This is about what I expected. At first, did not care much for it. Grabbed in the summer variety pack, so took me a while to get to the other two. With the 2nd and 3rd, it grew on me. Not enough to want again really. Just found it more drinkable than my first sample. The basis of the beer isn't too bad. The fruit throws the balance off somewhat. Probably better paired with some kind of light to medium meal.

Hazy pour. Flat aroma of fruit. The berry flavor is moderate which is just perfect. Not overpowering, and not really very sweet. Unlike many fruit based brews this does not get sickening tasting after just one. Quite good. Bottle.

DATE: July 22, 2017... OCCASION: having bowled with the Morgans, we set our sights on dinner...GLASSWARE: Weihenstephan weizen... pours a truly golden body with thick, clustering bubbles that form a frothy, clumpy white head that would make sea foam envious... wafting aroma of elder berry, tart raspberry, banana, clove, perfume esters, and light biscuit malts... not off-putting... first sip is effervescent, medium-bodied, fizzy and creamy enough to be a fulfilling sip in its own right...reasonable for a wheat ale, without much to detract from its path... berry is overpowered by caramel and biscuit--not what I expected, or should have... flowers and bubblegum are also present... the profile is refreshing but not a berry weisse in some respects...honestly, this works in some weird way, but I do not find it ultimately a beer I’d come back...though it reminds me of our time in Love Ladies with the Blancos, and that is worth something...

Hazy to cloudy golden color with a smaller, but stable nearly white head. Light fruity aroma, akin to a blueberry pop tart. Sweet flavors, with light berries, including gooseberries and blackberries. A fruity style beer that does not keep my interest. 5/12

Kroger bottle. Clear gold. Aroma of grass, hint of honey, hint of bitter fruit. Flavor is grass, bitter berry, honey, bread. Boring.

Pours a hazy dark golden yellow color. Aromas of malts, a touch of honey. Flavor is the same as the nose, nice malt taste with honey like sweetness. Smooth hop finish, medium body with a quick aftertaste.

Elder Betty is my favorite fruit beer I’ve ever had. It’s not like other fruit beers, where you think you’re just drinking cider; there’s enough of an aftertaste that reminds you that it’s beer to know it isn’t cider, and it’s not overpowering with one fruit. I love it.

It is hazy light amber in color. The head is almost non existent after the initial pour. It has aromas of bread, cinnamon, and wheat. The flavors of bread, berry, and sweet brown sugar with a dash of cinnamon dominate the flavor palate. It’s listed as a wheat ale, but it doesn’t resemble any wheat ale that I’ve had. If your looking for a unique taste, this one has it. If you are looking for a true wheat ale, this isn’t it.

Put us to bed. This beer is going to bring it. It has a fruit taste and darker malty taste.
