COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally a collaboration with Pizza Port Ocean Beach.

Double IPA with Tangerine & Blood Oranges and Maui cane sugar. The deep red hue is a result of the blood orange juice and specialty malts. The unique hop profile is made up of Azacca, El Dorado and Sorachi Ace. This beer is delightfully bitter and aromatic with noes of tropical fruit and, of course, orange.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2019 23-Jan-15 (12-oz can: Purchased 23-Jan-15 for $3.49 at The Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in San Diego, CA)
This Imperial IPA pours a very hazy, orange body with an inch of off-white head that settles to a dusty sheet and ring, leaving stringy lacing on the glass. The nose is grainy and husky, but also cheesy, stinky, and earthy. Not enticing so far. On the palate, the malts are grainy and minimally sweet, hops are pithy and citrusy, and the addition of blood orange and tangerine seems more like citrus peel than juice. The finish has a somewhat dirty flavor that further detracts from my impression. The beer is medium in weight, medium in carbonation, and the mouthfeel is dry, dusty, chalky, and slightly astringent. Overall, I didn't find this enjoyable. The malt base isn't all that pleasant, and between the hops and the citrus addition, the beer has a harsh flavor and mouthfeel.

Backlog entry. This beer was well rounded, no major surprises and as expected.

Not a bad IPA in all. Smooth. Lingering orange flavor though a little butter but expected of an IPA. Nice color and good smell. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Citrus aroma in an amber pour. Hop forward balance with a zesty fruit body and a pithy bitter finish. Not as good as their Big Swell IPA - but better than the Double Overhead (to my mind at least).

Hazy red orange pour with a tall, chunky off white head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, toast, hay, guava heavy tropical, floral, tree and berry fruit. Flavor is caramel, bread crust, dank, citrus, oily grain, citrus peel, toast. Medium body, juicy to syrupy feel, light to medium carbonation. Tasty.

Aroma is citrus, tropical fruit, sweet fruit and earthy malts. The flavor is citrus/sweet fruit, earthy malts, light tropical fruit and a bitter/slightly spicy finish. A slightly stronger regular IPA.

12oz can from Beer Bazaar. Orangey copper pour with an off-white head leaving a lot of spotty lacing. Aroma has citrus, pine, some tangerine, light honey, and some graininess. Taste is of sweet tropical fruits, citrus, pine, tomato or something vegetal, and biscuit malts. Medium bodied with fairly constant carbonation. The blend is decent but no better and there is some alcohol presence. Finishes tangy fruity and bittersweet. Interesting effort. A touch to the strange/esoteric side. 13.7

can. solid beer. For an DIPA, was on the mild side - still very good, just not a WOW DIPA

Pours a coppery amber from a can. Big citrus notes in the nose, similar flavor, not specifically blood orange, more grapefruit and lemon. Maybe citron. Good beer.

Overly graphic can. Foggy, tea colored with a webby eggshell head. Complex, fruity, sweet, lemony citrus aroma with some toasted sugar, vanilla and weirdness. Big flavor profile, lotsa stuff going on in there. Like a few pigs in a croaker sack. Lightly sweet, a little vanilla, screwball bittering, bold malts. Citrus pith zest catches you on the back corners of the tongue. Good mouthfeel, good carbo. Strong showing. ABC Liquors, Betton.
