Draft - Dark roast coffee and cocoa. Jet black with a thin brown head. Black dark roast coffee and well that's about it. Light bitter and sweetness balanced well.

Big Bold robust brew. Great coffee aroma up front, with a beautiful coffee taste. Fate knows what they are doing with coffee, that’s for sure.

On tap at the brewpub. Comes almost black with a very small tan head. Aroma of coffee, malt, and chocolate. Taste is coffee, coffee, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. Maybe a hint of vanilla. If you like coffee, then you have to try this.

At the brewery. A - pours a thick and gorgeous deep black with a faint deep tan head that does not last long. Wonderful lacing. S - intense coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Pretty general aromas, but well handled and very pungent. Sharp cacao. Marshmallow. Grains and graham crackers. Some tobacco, earth and chalk. Warming alcohol. M - medium, creamy, oily body with a sweet and chalky heavy palate. Good carbonation. T - coffee, chocolate and chalk up front. Middle is malts, earth and vegetal notes. Bitter baker's chocolate in the middle. Some cream and milk. Alcohol also present in the middle. Ending is dry and bitter. Roasted almost burnt malts and charcoal. Some hop and earth notes. 4.1

Pours black with a nice red tinted thin head. Aromas of huge coffee and roasted chocolates. Flavors of bitter roasted coffee and some semi sweet chocolates. I was just thinking I might be getting tired of dark beers bc they are hit and miss. This beer reminds me why I love RIS and other dark beers.

Black pour with medium sized frothy beige head. Aroma of massive coffee, roasted malts and cocoa. Taste is huge coffee, faint chocolate, faint roasted malts and faint creamy lactose. Full bodied, medium carbonation, bitter coffee finish, low hop presence. Coffee dominated taste.

on draught. Pours near black with an espresso head. Aroma is massive coffee, and one of the best smelling coffee beers I’ve had. Taste is sweet, but not cloying with balanced roast. Full bodied and a long finish. An incredible beer!

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2014 Growler (thanks, jpdurden24). Solid coffee aroma with dark chocolate and cocoa, along with licorice, charred bark, and dark roasted malt. Pours a flat, super-dark brown with hardly any head. Dark-roasted coffee forward with a sweet milk chocolate and tiny, dark berry tone before a slightly bitter, roasty finish. Fairly heavy body. A really nice imperial stout.

On tap @ Fate! Deep mahogany pour bordering squid ink with a tightly packed mocha foam. Mild coffee, subtle cocoa, and slight toasted marshmallow in the aroma. Wish it was a bit more fragrant. Flavor shows similar chocolate, roasted coffee bean, and a hint of vanilla. A solid first attempt at the style. The 9% was absolutely invisible. Looking for a bit more depth, complexity, and richness.

On tap at the brewery, nearly black pour wit a brown head. Nice coffee aroma with a flavor of coffee, chocolate and some light blueberry in the finish. Creamy, tasty and awesome coffee flavor!!! Phenomenal!
