COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the beer geek breakfast series – the beer that really put Mikkeller on the map, we decided to shake things up by adding a truck load of vanilla to the french press coffee trick, creating a whole new dimension to the beer that are loved by freaks and geeks worldwide. Not only that, we then placed it in bourbon barrels for 8 months for a truly unique beer experience. It’s dark, dangerous, sweet and incredibly tasty as you would expect, but most of all; it’s ready to conquer your breakfast table routines. Please note: The label is the same as the regular version. This one comes with a limited edition yellow wax. - Imperial Oatmeal Stout - Brewed at Lervig in Norway - 330 ml - ABV: 13,0%

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2021 Bottled 330ml (Mikkeller web, 13%, vintage 2016)
Opaque colour, tiny brownish head. Aroma of vanilla, toasted malts, spices and bourbon. Full-bodied. Smooth, roasted, sweet, some alcohol, vanilla, kind of spicey vibe. Complex bourbon 'blend' which is very close to 12% whiskey version.

juiceisloose (3665) - Windermere, Florida, USA - OCT 17, 2020
UPDATED: OCT 17, 2020 500 ml bottle. Pours a pitch black in color and topped by a small tan layer of foam that settles quickly to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of dark chocolate, toasted vanilla, and roasted coffee over a dark roasted malt base with further notes of Bourbon oak and a hint of booze. The flavor follows suit with notes of dark chocolate, earthy roasted coffee, and toasted vanilla right up front to go with the roasted malts and a firm bitterness on the back end with ample bourbon soaked oak. Full bodied and smooth with soft carbonation that leads to a dark chocolate, toasted vanilla, and smooth roasted coffee on the finish with lingering notes of bourbon oak. Really tasty stuff that is really smooth and easy to drink. Damn good barrel aged imperial stout. Glad I finally got to try this.

superspak (9600) - Greensboro, North Carolina, USA - MAR 31, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2020 500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Great spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, toffee, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and bourbon barrel notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, toffee, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness; and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, coffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, toffee, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an amazing malt/bitterness, and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a VERY silky, velvety, and slick mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 13.4%. Overall this is an amazing BBA imperial stout. All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example.
