GarrettB (2381) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 26, 2020UPDATED: NOV 26, 2020 June 30th, 2016 - Lighter and a little more raisin focused than then Beer Geek Breakfast Stout, this offers a stronger botanical hit in the nose, with a soapy cleanliness and, as mentioned, those raisins. The body is a perfect balance between depth and carbonation, with a gentle hop aggressiveness and a curious tang at the finish. Delicate, and malty, with a safety net to keep the flavors from becoming too intense.

>> Hop Geek Breakfast looks black in the glass with red highlights and thick, menacing dark foam that leaves gobs of lacing. Pine sap nose with coffee and grilled strawberry. The flavor is clean and spot-on for the style with woody, piney hops and then some intense coffee and lemon acidity. Body is actually not too thick and goes medium to low from the acid. Easy 4.0 Black IPA.
jandd1983 (6872) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - APR 24, 2017Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and black licorice. The taste was similar to the aroma with more malts, coffee, chocolate, black licorice and a hint of vanilla. Good stuff.
Tide (8501) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 21, 2017Draught at Mikkeller San Diego. Black color, beige head. Bitter taste with hops, roasted malts, nuts, coffee, chocolate, pine and a bit of dark fruits. Bitter finish with roasted malts, nuts, hops, chocolate, pine and dark fruits. Excellent black IPA.
