UPDATED: NOV 18, 2019 375ml bottle at home (BB 2/9/24). Murky dark amber pour, thin white head doesn’t last. The dominant aroma is musty woody funk, some rose petals, a trace of red wine vinegar. Palate is sour, puckering, funky, crisp dry finish, rose water comes out at the end. Medium body, lowish carbonation.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2019 Tap Mikkeller Tokyo. Pours hazy orange, just a little foam on top. Fruity nose, light vinegar and lots of funk. Rosehip character does come through, lightly tart but having these soft hairy seeds there as well (althoughI am not sure how you can feel them in the aroma - but you kind of do). Tastes tart, lots of vinegar and serving of rosehip fruits. Nice funky and acidic wild fruit beer. Light bitter linger in the finish.

A 375ml bottle with a best before date of 21st September 2027. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass. It was a murky dark orange brown colour with a two finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly, but left only sparse to no lacing. Aromas were tart, lightly sweet and sour, strawberry yoghurt, lightly lactic, peachy and a touch floral. Tastes tart, peach, oak, yoghurt with a hint of funk and vinegar. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, very different to all others in the Spontan lineup with its lactic and yoghurty notes and also a whole lot less funky. I’m not sure what rosehip is supposed to smell or taste like, but this beer was pretty nice.
