UPDATED: NOV 5, 2021 I can't believe I haven't rated this before. Happy when it showed up at Lagunitas. Nice tan foamy head. Nice malt bill. Clean aroma. Clean everything. Feels like there would be a huge wall of malt and alcohol on the other side of those roasted flavors, but just kept neat and balanced. First time having it not on tap. Brings back a lot of memories

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2021 16 ounce can at Kennedy’s Irish Pub and Curry in San Francisco. Opaque brown color. Fluffy Beige head leans towards a warm drawn bath. Roasted malt aroma hints at cocoa, charred wood and spent coffee grounds. Soft pillows of toasted malt and brown bread are evident in the first sip. Wonderfully subdued in its complexity. Some smokiness and chocolate on the palate. Easy drinking for the style. Nicely done.?

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2021 Can. Pours clear black, medium beige head, good lacing. Aroma is roasty, ash, earth, tobacco. Flavor is light sweet, light plus bitter. Light body.

UPDATED: FEB 26, 2020 Keg at Toronado, San Francisco, CA on 22/05/2008. Absolutely killer dark lager, brimming with roasty notes, biscuit, fruitcake and treacle elements, but still crisp.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2019 Smoky aroma with a chocolate malty flavor. Great gluten free lager. Had it at HGB, Healdsburg, CA with truffle fries. Killer combo!

Draft. Chocolate malt, ash, wood, and dry hay aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Moderately sweet chocolate malt and mildly bitter dry hay/wood flavor. Good body. Solid.

Draught @ Moonlight Brewing Co. Santa Rosa. Pours black with a white head, lacings. Aroma of roasted malt, little yeast, toast, chocolate, herbs, light smoke. Flavor is light bitter, malty, toasted bread, light yeast, chocolate, herbs, leaves, little smoke. Medium body, average carbonation, light dry finish. 200718

Tap. Pours dark brown. Aroma and flavor are nice toast and dark chocolate, some earthiness, soft lager yeast esters, and a dry finish.
