Dacrza (1557) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JAN 14, 2019UPDATED: JAN 14, 2019 DATE: January 13, 2019... OCCASION: a good weekend ends with my second Mother Earth night--this one less peanut buttery, more ABV... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter....pours almost half a glass of thick, snowy white head that refuses to back down--yet once it does, it leaves a craggy set of flares and ridges... its body is a golden orange sun, nearly opaque and populated with frozen bubbles.... gigantic grapefruit, mango and lemon... butterscotch, dandelion, hay, bubblegum, and soft herbal notes... the malts are spry and light, almost like a cracker.... no doubt, its resin is present too, but this really is a tropical approximation of an imperial IPA... sips at a medium-bodied, bitterly delightful rate... its mouthfeel is slightly dry, the movement is oily, and yes, it rattles the teeth well after the glass returns to its resting place... where is the 9% ABV?! the grapefruit and mango arrest the senses... the resin is luscious and reverberating, with a juiciness that wins... the hops crush, and its sunny disposition makes this a repeater--I will seek this out again, and hopefully in growler form to check its freshness... demonstratively West Coast, this is a win....
