COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Constituting a beginning; giving origin to something derived or developed; original." Need we say more? True to its Imperial roots! This brew clocks in at 9% ABV, and over 100 IBUs! It is made with four varieties of grains resulting in a bold dark amber color and four varieties of hops, creating a subtle citrus aroma, and bitter, hoppy finish. Winner of a gold medal at the 2009 Santa Cruz National Organic Challenge, this recipe surely will not disappoint.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2021 Can. Golden-orange, massive head. Nice aroma, fruity and light, Bit of an earthen twist, into the flavors, as well. Chewy. Peach rind dominates, a bit of melon, more peach rind. Hides its 9% well. (#7959, 5/2021)

coasternut (649) - VANCOUVER, Washington, USA - SEP 17, 2020
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2020 This is an almost perfect IIPA, high in IBU's , but not tasting like it. Nice ABV without the alcohol taste. Nice tropical taste, light-to-medium mouth feel and tropical aroma. What more could you want from a IIPA!

raphael (1640) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 11, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2020 Good whiff of sawdust, pine, lemon and grapefruit. slight haze to the shiny yellow body Flavors of orange, pine, alcohol and honey--don't quite all blend. A little dry and light on the mouthfeel. $3 for 16 oz can good deal.

Dacrza (1557) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JAN 14, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2019 DATE: January 13, 2019... OCCASION: a good weekend ends with my second Mother Earth night--this one less peanut buttery, more ABV... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter....pours almost half a glass of thick, snowy white head that refuses to back down--yet once it does, it leaves a craggy set of flares and ridges... its body is a golden orange sun, nearly opaque and populated with frozen bubbles.... gigantic grapefruit, mango and lemon... butterscotch, dandelion, hay, bubblegum, and soft herbal notes... the malts are spry and light, almost like a cracker.... no doubt, its resin is present too, but this really is a tropical approximation of an imperial IPA... sips at a medium-bodied, bitterly delightful rate... its mouthfeel is slightly dry, the movement is oily, and yes, it rattles the teeth well after the glass returns to its resting place... where is the 9% ABV?! the grapefruit and mango arrest the senses... the resin is luscious and reverberating, with a juiciness that wins... the hops crush, and its sunny disposition makes this a repeater--I will seek this out again, and hopefully in growler form to check its freshness... demonstratively West Coast, this is a win....
