COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned English style ’real ale’. Burnt amber in color, it has a rich malt body and floral hop aroma. A batch was brewed in the Hook Norton brewery, UK, in 2015 to be sold from the cask at the UK pub chain, J D Wetherspoon for their Spring 2015 beer festival: "Dave Edney has travelled to Hook Norton Brewery, in Oxfordshire, to brew this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. This amber-coloured beer has a moderately malty body, with hints of toffee and roastiness, complemented by a well-balanced bitterness, fruity, citrus notes and a pleasing, dry finish. Hops used: Cascade (UK), Challenger Beer style: best bitter"

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2019 It has a really good malt backbone unlike many at this price point. A true Melbourne beer.

Super dark toffee appearance, like the stuff yer mum used to smash with a tenderiser mallet. Tastes much lighter than it appears, not too heavy, high pitched fruitiness on the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle. Pours a darkish amber with a beige head. Aroma: roasted malt, mild toffee and raisin, caramel notes. Taste: Roasted malt, caramel, raisin, mild citrus and nut flavours. Medium bodied. Mild bitterness. Moderate to high carbonation. This beer was ok. A little bit thin and boring for my palate.

330 ml bottle. Bought in a licor schop in Australia (Fucking expensive!). Nice amber color, low carbonation. High hops smell. Not a lot of taste, disapointed so far with Australian beer :(

Clear brown with creamy head. Aroma of sweet toffee. Big malt taste, toffee and dark biscuits. Unexpected lingering bitterness too.

Bottle to stemmed glass. Pours dark toffee colour with a nice white head; just shy of two fingers. Disappaited too quickly, and no lacing. Aroma - I got nothing through the foam. Later when it dropped the malts came through with faint hints of dark current like fruits / boozy fruitcake - but not strong. Taste was nicely malty towards the sweet end but only just. Like so many of the mountain goat range the carbonation overrides any other mouthfeel and ruins the palate. Pale shade of the Fancy Pants ale which is fantastic.

Kuitenkin maitokauppaolueksi ihan hieno suoritus. Suutuntuma keskitäyteläinen, kohtalaisen hiilihappoinen ja raikas.

Shared 22 oz. bottle. Amber color with a light beige head. Aroma of malt and caramel, very sweet-smelling. Taste is malt, caramel, alcohol, rust. Some oxidation noted. Probably too old.

Note: from old bottle that was "best by" 3 1/2 years ago; Aroma: sickly sweet, malty with apple juice notes; Appearance: amber, hazy pour with billowy white head; Taste: very odd; simultaneously sweet yet also tasteless; hard to describe; Palate: medium body with long, sweet finish; Overall: yuck. Maybe just too old.

Poured a translucent amber brown colour with a one-finger off-white/cream dense foam head that retained well and laced well. Carbonation moderate and coarse. Aroma of malts and sweet fruits; no obvious hops. Taste is malty with sweet caramel and toffee and some sweet fruits. Light body. Crisp, smooth and soft with mild sweetness on the finish.
