COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The newest offering in New Belgium’s Lips of Faith Program, Dandelion Ale, was inspired by the great hop shortage of 2008. Dandelion greens have a natural bittering effect much like hops. Reveling in the freedom of the Belgian brewing tradition, we thought this ubiquitous weed would make an interesting addition to a traditionally hopped beer. The result is a strong blond ale brewed with toasted pilsener malt, flavored with fresh picked dandelion greens and grains of paradise. Dandelion Ale is hazy and light gold in color with peachy aroma and a Belgian yeast strain. It has a unique bitterness, subtle maltiness and a creamy mouthfeel.

somewhat unique beer - though the dandelion could be mistaken for floral grassy hops. little to no bitterness and a nice fruity Belgian yeast make this stand out a little.

Tap. Nice floral and citrus aroma. Medium/light mouthfeel, with floral, vegetative, and peach-like flavors. Quite tasty, and has only a slight amount of bitterness.

Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured hazy golden/orange with a thin, white head. Sweetness up front and then morphed into a botanical and stone fruit concoction. Well attenuated and dry in the finish. Herbal and earthy with a nice yeast spice too.

The beer was pretty sweet and you could taste the Belgian yeast. The first sips were quite enjoyable, though with a bit of a candy "sweet tart" taste. The favor faded a bit by the end of the pint - but still an enjoyable drink.

Sweet golden ale like aroma. Pale golden in color and hazy. Strong banana flavor and sweetness. Notes: Brewery visit during ’09 GABF

Reviewed from notes. Pours a golden color with a bit of haze. The nose brings some flowers with a bit of spice. There are some definite citrus notes in there as well. The taste is spicy with a bit of lemon and citrus. Flowers and a bit of light bread. Good carbonation and decent body, although in the end everything seems divergent and really didn’t come together for me. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-29-2010

Draft at Toronado. Hazy golden pour, white head. Sweet bready malt, fruit, floral and herbs, stone fruit. Interesting beer, that is fairly light and refreshing.

Pale gold and hazy. Quite sweet. A little strange. I was surprised but it works pretty well. Serving: Tap

On tap @ Toronado. Vaguely saisonish with a touch of spicy yeast and some hops on the nose. The bitterness comes in towards the finish. A touch fruity with a little mustiness.

Tap at Trinity Brewing. Pours hazy gold with a frothy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair to good lacing. Aroma is cookie malt, grain, straw, fruity yeast, pear, peach, low hops, and a nice floral bouquet. Flavor is sweet malt, low hop flavor and bitterness, floral notes with fruity esters. Medium bodied, average carbonation, and spicy.
