COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with wormwood, goji berries, and schisandra. Deftly, this spring brewed venture lands on its feet. Springboard combines oats, ancient Chinese herbs and Mt. Hood hops to maintain a balanced equilibrium for such an exhilarating ale. This cloudy blonde has a spirited threshold, and a creamy body, followed by a refreshingly dry finish.

Bitterbill (2959) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - OCT 19, 2017
From Feb 2007 Pours from 12oz bottle (best by 15 Jun 2007) a hazy straw yellow with an ample head of foam that shrinks slowly leaving a fine ring around the glass with lacing. It looks like it's pretty lightly carbonated as the bubbles are difficult to see when holding up the glass to the light. No complaint there.... The smell is yeasty and zesty but on the delicate side. The taste on first sip...very complex! I note a lot of spice mixed in with lemon zest, yeastiness, and grain that's quite nice on my taste buds. Further sips in and I'm finding some malty sweetness and a touch of sourness, especially in the finish; the flavours are a very unusual compared to other Belgian Pale Ales I've tried and that's a *good* thing. Hmmm, I'm noticing some warming with this one despite it's relatively low abv percentage; I'm thinking this is a bonus considering it's already below zero outside. ;^) I'm liking this offering from New Belgium and will certainly buy some when it shows up here in Casper. This one was acquired in a trade with my good buddy Wasatch....thanks dude! Bottom line: This is a very interesting and very drinkable example of the style that I (know* I'll drink more of. I recommend it!

Originally rated on 6/4/08. Mildly disappointing brew from a great brewer. It was slightly bitter with not any real distinguishing tastes, although there were some minute citrus hints in the aroma and flavor. There are to many other good N.B. beers out there to buy this one again.

Medium to light bodied with a weak finish. Aroma is herbs and light fruit. Decent taste but nothing really stands out.

Pours a clear golden color with white head. Cereal grains, some herbs, and a bit of floral notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes dry.

Dull Yellow brew with little head. Smells like mellons and grain. Taste is sweet, very fruity with a mellon style. Some thickness on the toungue gives it a silky feel. Interesting brew and one that I will most likely pick up again due to the unique flavors.

best by 14JUN13 Light grainy yellow with a soapy etched top. Smells sweet, grassy and fruity. Some honeydew, some corn, some apricot and belgian yeast with a touch of clay. Tastes sweet and floral, some more honeydew, some canteloupe, a bit of edible flowers, just a cut of gut alfalfa. Pretty flavor. Medium bodied with tight, moderate carb and a watering finish. An interesting beer, something that seems it would be nice on occassion, but not full time, a real winner for a seasonal. Not much belgian about it to me, which is not necessarily a negative, but something of note for the style.

Despite the weirdness of this beer, its surprinsingly bland. A non-descript blonde. Dry, herby, but mostly uninteresting.

OK brew, unique ingredients yield unique aroma and flavor profile. Overall a bit floral fruity and sweet for my tastes.
