Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – Served a hazy orange-amber colored brew with a tiny white head. The head faded very fast to leave just a hint of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of some light fruit and a good dose of earthy hop smell. With these aromas are some smells of a funky sour apple and hay like nature as well as a light bready biscuit smell.
Taste – the taste begins somewhat bready and wheat like with some yeast andsweeter lemon notes mixed within. Soon, some sour apple and more tart flavors come to the tongue. These create a rather pleasant slightly tart and bready flavor on the tongue. At the end a very light more herbal and earthy hop flavor come to the tongue and leave a very nice flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the light to average side with a carbonation level that is very average. The lighter body and average level of carbonation are quite nice for the sour and tart flavors, while also making it very drinkable.
Overall – Quite delicious and very easy to drink. It has a good blend of sour, sweet and bready. One to try.
deekyn (1459) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAR 9, 2014A - pours hazy golden straw with 1 finger of screaming white head that dissipates to a lasting ring. S - the belgian yeasts dominate with their overly sweet ripe apples notes. spelt, cloves, and more belgian yeast. M - medium full body. denser than expected. overly sweet throughout. end is wet and sweet. T - the belgian yeasts and spelt blend to a fake grape type flavoring. belgian yeasts, alfalfa and dried grass. O - nice but so so sweet.
chucklemation (2764) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - FEB 24, 2014Pours a hazy golden color but without much of a head. Has a sweet nectar aroma. Flavor is yeasty and sweet honey, with some additional spices I couldn’t quite put my finger on...maybe the peppercorn and hay, and maybe even lemon judging from the other comments on the beer. Whatever is in it, the beer is flavorful, if a bit too syrupy towards the end. Has a nice, smooth medium body feel. I enjoyed it.
Ron (6246) - Rochester, New York, USA - DEC 13, 2013Bottle from trade with JB. Pours out a yellow color with a white head on it. Smell is fruity, full of hay, and a slight hop bitterness in the nose. Taste smooth with pretty high carbonation. Not a bad Saison, but not one of my Favs.
jb (4388) - Rochester, New York, USA - NOV 9, 2013I liked it. It was different, and yes, heavy on the tart, but I thought it had a good degree of funk. Yeast noticeable on the nose, a bit less in the body. From Wegs in Erie.
rumproasts (6127) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 2, 2013bottle. golden with small head. lemony saison with light hop bite. not much in the way of funk, but there is the tartness from the lemon.
