AWISLguy (5965) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 15, 2019UPDATED: FEB 15, 2019 16oz can from Antioch Fine Wine. No can date; hate that for style. Big dark brown pour with a tan/brown head. Aroma has a mix of malts; licorice, ashy, sweet and chocolatey. Also there is pine. Taste is of sweet malts, tangy licorice, some grapefruit & piney hops, with chocolate and ashy malts. Medium to full bodied, there is some alcohol, and the blend is good. Finishes to the bitter side of bittersweet. Always happy to grab a black ipa. This one brings the needed components. 13.9

thewolf (13753) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUL 19, 2018Can, 44cl, bought @ YNWA, Kolding. Pours pitchblack with a fabulous, dense, creamy beige head. Aroma is an explosion of hops, resiny, citrus, grapefruit on top of mild roasted malts, licorice and coffee. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and super creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is wonderful and powerful. There is malty sweetness, some licorice, light chocolate. Lots of resiny hops with citrus, grapefruit and peach mixed in. A well-balanced viniousness warms appropriately. Simply: powerful and balanced; hard to achieve.
