COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Back in the summer we teamed up with Brouerij De Molen to brew our 3rd collaboration with them an XXXK Mild! Brewed to celebrate Brouwerij De Molen’s ‘Borefts’ festival, under the brief ‘tradition’, this strong(ish) ale has it’s roots stretching back to the late 1700’s. The beer boasts 100% mild ale malt and 18g per litre of East Kent Goldings in the early boil, bringing aromas of vanilla and sweet oak with bold, rich, bruised fruit flavours.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2021 Can at home, 5th September 21. Pours a clear chestnut brown, aroma is nuts, malty, caramel. Taste is bitter caramel, malts, roasted, complex, layered, dark fruits, candy, never too sweet and a good dose of bitterness. I like it.

hawthorne00 (6630) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 17, 2021
UPDATED: APR 17, 2021 Can. Deep reddish brown with a fat cap of beige head. Gets sludgy towards the bottom of the can but clear until then. Aroma of rich toffee, stewed fruit, fruit cake. Sweet but not as full bodied as expected with pretty strong spicy bitterness coming through at the end. Bitterness seemed a little too prominent until it warmed to ~14C. Not a mild in modern parlance, but good.

jarvo (1347) - Abingdon, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 21, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 21, 2021 Pours a hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma of toasted malt and pine. Taste is moderately rich malt, warming alcohol, piney bitterness in the finish. Tastes more like a fairly restrained British style barley wine than a mild, but it’s a nice sipper.

Leighton (30699) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2020 Can at home in Hackney - source via Trembling Madness online. Pours lightly hazed amber with a frothy, off-white head. Fairly rich, moderately sweet, with strong earthy bitterness, toasted pine, burnt toffee, bready malts. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Warming finish, sticky, more robust bitterness, earth, dried leaves, some plum, dates, caramel. Lingering strong, borderline harsh bitterness. Interesting stuff.

theprof (3271) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 16, 2020 Pours ruby copper body with thin lace top. Rich malty scent. Pungent and potent. Taste is medium sweet to bitter with roasted malts. Bready but in a rich satisfying way and the heat is well managed. Palate is medium bodied, sticky feel soft to average carbonation and a long finish. An imperial Mild - who'd have thought?

hauxe (3004) - Butzbach, GERMANY - MAR 11, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2020 Can courtesy of SimonTomlinson via the RB EU 2019-3 trade. Thanks! Auburn with a sticky, frothy head that lingers. Aroma of caramel, tea. Faint hints of berries. Taste is bittersweet to bitter with a fleeting tartness at the finish. Nicely balanced. Full bodied with moderate to mild carbonation. Slightly sticky. Very good!
