COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For the double IPA in this series we brought in our friends at Cloudwater to help us brew this Nelson Sauvin-led offering. Backed up with the classic tropical notes of Citra, NZ Nelson brings tons of gooseberry and sauvignon grape character to this smooth, oat-rounded beer.

LagerGuide122 (803) - - NOV 2, 2019
UPDATED: NOV 2, 2019 440ml can brewed in Leeds at 8.2%. Yellow and opaque. Decent-sized head, not lasting too long. Aroma of mango and a bit of those oats beneath. Moderate carbonation, kept in check by the body of this beer. Those oats doing work, really giving a thick, high-quality fruit juice feel to the beer. Slightly tanninic grape-y hops, slightly resin-y tropical fruit hops (funny how Citra so often doesn't taste citrussy), supported by a good if unoriginal 'craft IPA' malt. Thick and somewhat smooth mouthfeel, would be creamy if it wasn't somewhat rough and pithy! Succulent and juicy fruit character. Bitterness there but pretty low - grape-esque. Serious business ABV might be felt in your stomach, but not in your mouth. The alleged gooseberry may even put in an appearance in the aftertaste! Good DIPA, if not outstanding, manages a slight (very slight - key note is the grape tannins) twist on the style. As a beer it's great, but not the pinnacle of the style. Could be considered to 'split the difference' between Northern Monk and Cloudwater's house styles. Good hop flavour without loads of bitterness. Very pleasant drink, and discernibly skillfully crafted.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2019 Can of 44cl, in a Pint glass; from the fridge. Good and surprising collab, this beer is a double IPA aged in barrel of Sauvignon, which give this beer a nice sweet aftertaste.

DraftDodger (5615) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 8, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 8, 2019 Copenhagen 8/10 2019. 44 cl can from Mikkeller Webshop. Drawing of a big hand coming out of a cloud grabbing for a wasp. Pours hazy, milky golden yellow with a medium-sized white head. Bubbly. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is intense, sweet and fermented with more subdued citric notes. Pineapple, mango, papaya. Light decay. Lighter citrus, Grape fruit. Light carbonation. Soft, smooth, oily, almost flat texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by a strong, citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter sweet with bitterness getting the upper hand. Lingers for a while with light boozy burn. Powerful, sweetly fermented, citric, aptly named Powerhouse.
