21.02 SKGN // DREAM LINE FORMS: TWO // NEON RAPTOR // LOUGHRAN FAMILY MALT // INDIE HOPS // DDH IPA 7% ABV // 1.078 OG // 8 EBC // 20 IBU Not only did we get to invite the Neon Raptor team up for an overdue brew, we also got to brew with a new hop we’d been working getting our hands on for most of this year. Thanks to the team at Loughran Family Malt in Ireland and their close relationship with Oregon’s Indie Hops we sourced fresh 2019 Strata straight from the states, through to Loughran’s and over to the UK in less than a month from harvest. To top it off, Strata is potentially the most exciting hop out there right now. It’s the perfect multi-hop blend of tropical fruit, citrus and dank pine varieties all rolled into one, and it grew this way organically. The raw pellets simply burst from the packet with passion fruit aroma so we could not wait to get them into a beer! Over a New England base accentuated with flaked oats and wheat malt, we used the Strata in both the whirlpool and the dry hop alongside Citra and Simcoe to compliment the ranging flavour profile of our lead hop and bring the dose up to 28g/l. The passion fruit shines through with notes of honeydew melon, citrus, ripe berries and plenty of distinct pine to finish off.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2021 Can from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy golden straw colour with a mostly, lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, grassy, nettle, stone fruits, zesty citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a crisp, fresh, mineral, juicy citrus, light pepper spice, floral dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A massively hop forward beer.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2020 Aroma of tropical fruit notably passion-fruit and pineapple with some dank pine behind. Poured a decidedly murky orange pale body with whit foam top. Taste is New England style soft fruitiness with sweetness dominant before a fluctuating transition to a final pine resinous bittersweet finish. Palate is medium bodied, sticky clammmy feel with soft carbonation and a long fruit to pine finish. For me it was more NEIPA than IPA. Let's see if the Strata hop is the thing for this year.

Gurthnar (9965) - Bratislava, SLOVAKIA - JAN 18, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2020 Tap at Lya. Very soft, very rounded, easy drinking. Hops centered to be sure, a full perceived body though. Malt in background, it rather seems like a full pulpy fruit juice. Lots of hops. Moderate bitterness, moderate sweetness, balances out to be an easy drinking one despite packing such a hops punch. Stone fruits, exotic, though I dont really get any passionfruit. Very good.

Taste: Sweet with medium bitterness. Palate: Full body, average carbonation. Overall: Great IPA, awesome hop profile. Could be even more juicy and less sweet.
