UPDATED: DEC 27, 2021 Can from the Grumpy Goat, Reading. Loved the can design, just had to buy it to share with my DIY-loving brother. Sadly, the contents don't live up to the packaging. It's an amber beer with a lasting white head. There's negligible carbonation - in fact it tasted rather flat. I quite like the moderately bitter earthy caramel base, and I quite like the sweet, peachy hops - sadly the two don't really go together, and it's a sub-par brew as a result. It doesn't make me think of Ronseal at all, and somehow feels a missed opportunity - a darker, woody old ale may have been the way to go here maybe?

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2021 440ml can brewed in England at 4%. Clear dark-amber bordering light brown, with an ample, fair-duration head. Aroma of garden hedge meets cut grass, with sweet dark crystal malt even suggesting a shed in the background! Moderate carbonation, a tad thin-textured. A little light chocolate aftertaste from the crystal malt with a hint of light cola and nuttiness, and upfront some peach-meets-pear-meets-gooseberry from the hops. Solid, classic bitter, in Northern Monk style. Not too sweet, nor with an overly-bitter finish - two pitfalls of the style - so great thirst-quenching material. No wow factor, though, but the somewhat atypical hops make it interesting enough for the connoisseur. Well put together.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2021 Cask at craft beer Co Holburn. A mostly clear amber orange coloured pour with a loose off white head. Aroma is nutty, toasted malts, some light dried fruits. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, decent layered malts, toffee, nuts and dried fruits, raisin. Palate is semi sweet, decent cask condition. Fine. Does what it says on the tin.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2021 Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 4th September 2021. Hazy copper with almost no foam or lace. Very malty aroma with spices and resins. Leafy hops, pines, resins and caramel malt in-mouth, and a finish of caramel malts and berry fruits. Smooth, slightly clingy mouthfeel and medium to full body.
