dflb (527) - California, USA - DEC 20, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 20, 2020 Bought at M&M Liquor from Riverside, California for $5.99, Daliesque (2012) is a barrel aged lambic style Belgian blonde brewed by Oceanside Ale Works from Oceanside, California. The air yields acetic and acidic notes, lemon, green apples, and a light, straw Brettanomyces yeast funk upon the nose. The appearance is an orange amber that pours a minimal head. When held up to light, yellow shows along with a cloudy body. The alcohol content is 6.2%. The acidic and acetic qualities of Lactobacillus and Brettanomyces yeast are strong right out of the bottle. As those sensations wanes, lemon is juicy and tones the drink. Nectarines slightly sweetens the lemony complexion. Umeboshi plums rounds out the feel while adding another sour aspect. Brettanomyces yeast imbues a fair straw funk to the body. Green apples are discernible during the dry, funky finish. Oak imparts a woodsy touch to the plum and funky yeast frame. Daliesque (2012) is a dazzling barrel aged lambic style Belgian blonde. Lactobacillus, a straw Brettanomyces yeast funk, lemon, nectarines, Umeboshi plums, green apples, and oak fuse into a sparkling craft beer. Right out of the gate, the sour and tart is strong enough to pucker the take even for a fan of sour beer. As you get used to it, the acidic and acetic tinge ravishes the mouthfeel along with the Umeboshi plum touch. As the beer warms, nectarines fills and sweetens the body followed by the juicy lemon. The sour and tart is easier to experience at room temperature; 5 out of 5 for a newcomer at the beginning, 3.5 out of 5 at room temperature. I loved drinking this brew and found a sour strong enough to please fans of sour beer that want some wallop to it. Cheers. Prost. Drink for the love of beer. UPDATED: OCT 20, 2018 Bottle from 2012. Hazy golden with a small foamy white head. Awful taste of nail polish remover, lemon, hay and wood. Medium body, way too sour, some sweetness. Lemony finish with lingering chemicals. Terrible.

Tap at Kamikaze. Said to be 2012 vintage, aged in Riesling barrels. Deep golden orange with lace. Hazy. Nose is grapefruit, plum, white grape, light vinegar. Tart and acidic, also acetic, sour plums, great sour edge, malt, grapefruit, white grapes. Ver enjoyable.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2018 Hazy light orange, zero head as expected. Sherbet aroma, makes you think the taste will be pretty sour. And boy is it. Massive, sharp, sour taste. Can't help but make a puckering face. Catches in your throat too. Nice sweetness too. Really phenemonal beer, one of my favourites to date.

750ml bottle at Kump's during non-Belgian lambics tasting. Pours a hazy golden with a weak white head. Aroma is funky with some blanket and nail polysher. Taste is very acidic, similar to aroma. Meh.

Bottle, shared with collegues. Pours a hazy golden amber beer with an airy, quickly disappearing white head on top. Aroma has horse blanket, floral notes, vineous characters and old grass. Proper funk going on. Flavor is very harsh and very stringent, lots of tart notes, high in carbonation and a very weird aftertaste. Really bizarre for sure and I'm not really feeling this right now. Meh, not convinced.

TimE (8459) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAR 10, 2017
After reading all the bad reviews I was a bit worried. I had on draft the 2012 version in Devil Craft in Tokyo in March 2017. I got a sample before I ordered just in case. Pale golden-amber color. No head. Little carbonation. The sourness in the nose jumps out and hits with leather, horse blanket and hay with undertones of subtle fruitiness. Puckering sourness of vinegar, leather, hay and some subtle citrus notes. The body was perhaps a bit heavier than expected, but at 6.2% no big surprise. This was a damn fine sour beer that clearly has QA issues. When this is on, it’s on.

Bottle 750ml. @ 32th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2015, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England.

[ As Oceanside Ale Works Daliesque ].
[ Vintage 2012 ]. Unclear medium yellow orange color with virtually no head. Aroma is moderate to heavy aceton, paint strippe, vinegar, nectarine, marzipan. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sweet apple - tangerine, green apples, aceton, tart, dry, peach, sour orange - nectarine, late some tropical fruit. Quit harsh and awful - dirty. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat. [20151201]

750ml bottle [2012 vintage]. Cloudy, orangey golden colour, some white bubbles on top. Woody aroma, notes of glue, thinner, ammonia, vinegar. Taste is tart, woody, spicy, again hints of glue, thinner, ammonia, vinegar in a diluted mode.
