COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

The_Osprey (10582) - WALES - MAY 10, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2021 Olde Hickory The Event Horizon 8.5% 650ml bottled Nov 2017 consumed May 2021 at home in Twickenham. Thick black pour forming a brown ring of head. Meaty bourbon aroma. Toffee, horlicks, molasses, dark chocolate that's been left open in a cupboard.  Body is rounded with tingly carbonation. Spicy, woody, dry yet semi-sweet taste with more chocolate. Finishes ashy, just a touch of the booze showing up drying things out and bringing the spice with it. Aftertaste of burnt toffee.  Really very good. Nicely balanced, well judged and never gets sweet. Drinkability is dangerous. (9-4-9-4-17=4.3)

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2021 650.61765 mL bottle at home, bought at Slijterij Groningen. Stupid non-metric system volumes. Appearance: pitchblack with a medium sized beige to brown head. Aroma: bourbon upfront, together with Haribo licorice, mild coffee, molasse, some butterscotch.Taste: above medium sweetness with pretty high bitterness. Notes of bourbon, coffee grounds, rye bread, plenty of molasse like sweetness, licorice and touch of honey. Palate: medium bodied, creamy oily texture and moderate carbonation. Overall: really rich for the ABV. Beautiful barrel character. Complex and rich in flavor, as well as aroma. Body fits well too. Great stuff.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2021 Nice sweet smell kind of like vanilla, wish it was a touch stronger on the smell but it's good, taste is tangy off the bat... can't really describe it... I guess the medium dark malt, the slight alcohol burn and the sweetness come together in the beginning in an interesting way, but then it smooths out and gets sweeter.... dissipating into a light alcohol burn... Had while watching the news about the capital insurrection last night..

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2020 A 22 fl. oz. bomber, bottled on 28th September 2016. Poured into a snifter. It was black in colour with minimal brown head, with some spotty lacing. Aromas of bourbon, dark fruit, raisin, prunes, light roast, chocolate, and vanilla. Tastes similar to the aroma, it’s bourbon forward, prunes, raisin, followed by a roasty finish that includes chocolate, cocoa powder, vanilla, and bitterish coffee. Creamy, smooth, medium bodied, with soft carbonation. Overall body is lighter than I prefer, but then the ABV is also pretty low for a BA Imperial Stout. All that is just a minor hiccup in what is still a great and enjoyable Imperial Stout with big bold flavours.
