UPDATED: APR 22, 2021 12 oz bottle. Smells of banana and coriander. Light orange and hazy. Nicely carbonated, tastes of banana, coriander, and spice. Lively carbonation with a slightly sweet finish. Nice and smooth.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2020 One of the old guard of American craft brewers, Ommegang's artful delivery of Belgian styles is truly on par with many of the European MVPs that served as their influence. Hennepin is, dare I say, ever but as good, and perhaps better than Saison Du Pont, THE saison. Hennepin's deep golden body floats a thick even bubbled white head that leaves plenty of lacing behind with each swallow. Toasted malt, honey, orange, meadow flower, ginger and white peppercorn dance in a complex melange that shifts and changes with each sip. Mildly sweet as it fades, spicy hops dart in and out, piquing the palate with earthy, herbal goodness. The carbonation is fairly high, but not overdone or brittle. A modern classic.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2019 Pours hazy gold with a huge white head. Aroma of spice and orange. Taste has heavy ferrous elements, as well as dark earthy notes and a hint of coriander. Palate has herbal elements and continued Belgian wheat influences, lots of alcohol apparent. Good, heavy.

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2019 0.75 ml bottle with champagne cork in Manhattan, New York (July 1, 2019). Quite spicy from the added pepper. Not too spicy, though. Well balanced canoe.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2019 Better than expected. Aroma is lemon and general citrus. Appearance is hazy golden. This one is easy drinking, light on the palate but somewhat bland on the backend. Taste is lemon, citrus, spices, and light hops. Maybe worth drinking again under the right circumstances.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2019 Bottle. Gold color. White head covering maintained by an effervescent stream of carbonation bubbles. The malty aroma is yeasty with hoppy notes of pepper, coriander, and orange zest. Nice.
