solar (128) - - NOV 8, 2021UPDATED: NOV 8, 2021 Pours a brown murk with nice cream colored fluffy head. Good presentation. A good quad belgian with the interesting taste set of krieke ale and cherries. For me, a challenging taste set that invites more. There is a mild a sour vibe from the krieke and cherries. Sweet malt background. Really got good when it warmed up. Since I'm not a big fan of sours I rate it slightly lower, but others might just love it. Nice to try.
Fin (15185) - Attenkirchen, Bavaria, GERMANY - AUG 20, 2021UPDATED: AUG 20, 2021 Can from Beer Republic webshop Breda Netherlands. Had this on Thursday 19th August 2021 en route from Ancona to Patras aboard the Anek Lines, Hellenic Spirit. Pours murky brown with an off white head. Nice aroma, leans towards fruity, cherries but suggests sweetness. Tastes great,. I really wish I had a bit of Bakewell Pudding to have with this, they would work well together. A great quadruple, a little warmth from the abv, tang from the cherries. So nice.
jhsnitz1 (1210) - Pendleton, South Carolina, USA - JUN 26, 2021UPDATED: JUN 26, 2021 Caramel and sweet plum, fig, or dark fruit aroma. Flavor is smooth alcohol, cherry, sweet malt, like sipping a whiskey.
Arbitrage411 (73) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 9, 2021UPDATED: DEC 20, 2021 Pours a chestnut colored muddy liquid with an initial 3 finger enormous and caramel off white head - quick to leave. Ginger ale sounds until it settles in the glass. Fruity, they say cherry? flavor on the nose. Spicy malts. A generous carbonation over cloudy brown pour. Layers of flavor transferred from the glass to make for textured profile. Pastry mix but slight bitter punch.
Not overly hoppy. More a fruit cake and leaning on a sweet side. With this moderate amount of bitter in the mouth, is just enough to contrast the fizzle sweet like main composition. The balance more on the sweet sidet than bitter. Sophisticated. Finish moves forward semi dry.
A relaxing brew as the strong alcohol solidifies.
Jerseyislandbeer (3514) - JERSEY - APR 18, 2021UPDATED: APR 18, 2021 Old rating from 2016 - 355ml bottle brought back from NYC. Pours brown with a off white head. Aromas & tastes of cherry, raisins, caramel, toffee, wood, chocolate, spice, alcohol & malt. Medium body. Sweet finish
Unde (1906) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 3, 2021UPDATED: APR 3, 2021 Kinda odd that when you combine kriek and quad you somehow end up with less than the two on their own. I still don't like the mouth feel of quads either so definitely this wasn't my beer.
edwardbass (945) - Arizona, USA - APR 2, 2021UPDATED: APR 2, 2021 16oz can. This is definitely a sipper. Sour and sweet, fairly heavy. Not my typical style, but I appreciate the quality. Took me a month to finish 4 :) ABV is pretty apparent while you're drinking it. I'd buy it again.
scooterbub (1217) - Lander, Wyoming, USA - MAR 27, 2021UPDATED: MAR 27, 2021 Pint Can. Pours a dark, unclear red with a nice tan head that lasts. Taste is of yeast, dark fruit, malt, caramel, toffee, cherries and wood. Wood, alcohol, and cherry aroma. Has a nice smooth body with a tart cherry finish. Nice to drink. Easily one of the best beers that I have had in a while. Glad it came in a four pack.
