UPDATED: NOV 24, 2021 Four-pack of 12oz cans from Cook's Liquors in Westmont. Nose is sweet and plummy, strong whiskey and chocolate. A little fumey at this point but not excessive, like the rough barrel character. Pour utter used motor oil black, a very dark brown head that fizzes itself into non-existence in about two seconds. Taste is lightly sour, more like 'tangy', light-medium sweet, low bitterness but it's there. Strong alcohol presence doesn't really burn but does warm slowly, does present an initial shock followed by a chocolate-cherry combo, tart cherry lingers on the teeth for quite a while. Smooth chocolate rolls along like soft cocoa powder. Syrupy full body, even obese, very much one for dessert. Moderate, fizzy carbonation, intensely sticky lips. The misfire here is the barrel character: all the flavors fit, but the levels are off. Worth seeking out. [2021.11.23: 4.0]
