UPDATED: MAR 20, 2021 Bouteille. Robe noire, impénétrable. Fine mousse brunâtre dense et homogène. Tenue de mousse relativement durable. Arômes: linéaire, café, chocolat. Saveurs: équilibré avec des note similaires aux arômes et une fine et brève amertume en finale. Texture: corps moyen, carbonation faible-moyenne, très bonne buvabilité.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2019 Robust porter de 6,2 % abv et 21 ebu, en format 50 cl. Mon exemplaire à date non décelable, devait avoir un an de bouteille. Couleur noir aux reflets marron sombre, à l'opacité forte. Mousse brun foncé, soyeuse, stable à 2 mm. Arômes de chocolat noir, écorce de hêtre, pointe de vin rouge du Rhône. 1ère bouche souple, à l'entame entre café torréfié et herbes à chat. Arrière-bouche avec une pointe de bois brûlé en plus. 2ème bouche avec une certaine présence, mais des saveurs éparses. Arrière-bouche avec fruits et baies noires. Longueur agréable, mais qui n'apporte rien de plus. Elle se tasse même un peu sur les arrière-bouches. Jambes huileuses, longues. Levure fine, correcte. Alcool bien, mais qui ne peut développer la longueur. Finale qui passe presque à côté du style ... CONCLUSION : un porter honnête au départ, qui a osé affronter le défi de la gaspésienne numéro 13, qui n'avait jamais existé … Ce numéro hanté ne lui a pas porté chance pour autant, puisqu'il a failli se retourner au final de son périple !! UPDATED: JUL 23, 2019 Aroma 7. Appearance 5. Taste 7. Palate 4. Overall 15. Malted taste, coffee with cream aroma. Very smouth, dark chocolate and sweet coffee taste.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2019 500ml bottle. Pours dark, dark, dark brown with a one finger tan cap. Smells fantastic. Cocoa, dark coffee, roasty malt notes, and a light earthiness. Taste wise, sweeter than I was expecting with some clumsy carbonation, roasty malt, dark coffee, raisin, and light minerality that leads into molasses, dark chocolate, dark malts, and some light prune notes. I love everything about the taste profile it but for the sweetness. Dial down the sugar, and this is a winner.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2019 On nitro tap at Pit Caribou, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lactose, light roast and a tiny hint of earthy coffee. Flavour is creamy, with light roast and lactose. Not a whole lot of depth in the body, but it’s decent.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2019 Picked on location on my visit of the area, nice and savoury porter, I’ll have to try the imperial style of this one.

On tap at BXL 2018. Pours black colour. Thin beige head. Coffee, chocolate, cocoa, cocoanibs in the aroma. Delicious smell. Slightly nutty too. Coffee at first. Slightly milky. Cream and cocoa in the middle. Dark chocolate and slight notes of coffee as well. Cocoa in the end. Rather medium bodied, well balanced brew with milky texture. Well drinkable and tasty brew.

Bottle. Smuggled out of Quebec by my work buddy Toner. Thanks, man! Pour is thick & blacker than your soul & is topped with a one finger cap of creamy foam. Flavour is stone fruit, leather, wet pipe tobacco & melted dark chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel, almost too still. Smooth sipper.

Sampled @ BXL Beerfest 2018. A almost black beer with a mid-sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted dark malt, coffee, Cocoa. Taste dark roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, sweet dark malt, some sugar.

Aroma of coffee, cocoa powder, soy sauce, dark chocolate.
Tastes pretty similar.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a low carbonation.
Finishes dry, roasty, but smooth, with coffee, dark chocolate, soy sauce, some tobacco, cocoa powder.

Tasty. Really lovely combination of coffe, chocolate and roasty malts. Drinks robust, but also pretty smooth. Great, characterful style example.
