tgrtnr (2060) - Germering b München, GERMANY - DEC 24, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2021 2019 vintage, 330 ml bottle. Murkky chestnut brown with a small beige colored head. Mighty boozy notes, rum, brandy, bourbon, dried plums, toffee, rum-aged raisins, cocoa, dark chocolate, dark cherries, hints of vanilla and cigars. Boozy sweetness, dry bitterness, dry citrus notes and lemon zest, grassy hops. Full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated, dry bittersweet finish with an intense boozy warmth. Great Barley Wine, very boozy, very complex yet easy to drink!

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2021 Tap az Billie’s. A straightforward combination of a big, malty BW and bourbon barrels, nothing you cant ser around these days but it is very very well made. Malty, boozy with notes of bread, caramel, vanilla, spice and light honey.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2021 11.2 oz. bottle split by tfontana. 2019 vintage. Murky brown in color. Aroma of caramel, English toffee, raisins, weak bourbon. The flavor has dark fruit, mild caramel, soft lingering bourbon. Good balance, medium plus body. Tasty.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2021 Bottle pour (9/23/19) from Julio's Liquors in honor of AirForceHops' 12,000th, my 3,500th! It's a cloudy dark brown with no sparkle, finger-width beige head quickly fading to a ring, decent viscosity and trace lacing. Aroma is caramel, apple/fruit, and mildest of bourbon. Taste is caramel, peat, light fruit and bourbon. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, thick texture, mild alcohol warmth, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, every element is here so it is well balanced but I'm just not wowed by the strength that I was expecting from a Top 50 Barley Wine.

Gangstergafje (2697) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - APR 4, 2021
UPDATED: APR 4, 2021 04-04-2021; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière). The looks of the beer is very nice. The beer has a nice colour, a kind of dark amber. It has an orange reddish glow. The beer is quite cloudy. On top there is a nice layer of grayish brown foam. Foam retention is average and a nice thin drape is left on the beer. Very nice. The aroma of the beer is very nice. Rich and full. The malt give some nice aromas of of roast and toast. The is some chocolate and a touch of coffee on the far back. The barley also has a rich grainy note. Hops are herbal. The bourbon is clearly present. It gives armras of vanilla, corn syrup, oak, some burnt wood. It is very pure and a great addition to the Barley Wine aromas. Very pure aromas, making it a very rich bouquet. Lovely. The taste of the beer is also very nice. Bitter hops, sweet malts, sweet alcohol, nice slight savory touch of roast. Well balanced. The palate of the beer is nice. Full body, smooth texture and medium carbonation. The finish is filled with alcohol warmth, rich barley aromas and Bourbon and oak aromas. Amazing beer indeed.

Leighton (30699) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 13, 2021 Bottle at home in Hackney - big thanks to Beau for getting for me from Mother Kelly’s BG. Pours lightly unclear brown with a dense, cascading khaki-yellow foam head. Delicious beer, rich, decadent caramel, some earthy bitterness, vanilla, toasted wood, booze, toffee, dried berries, dates. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, a little sticky, more semi-dark fruits, toffee, vanilla, with a decent hit of balancing bitterness. Really big and damn tasty.
