COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brother Levonian Saison is a Farm House style beer brewed to celebrate the life of Dave Levonian. Our friend Dave was a husband, father, homebrewer and a very approachable guy. He was basically just one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He passed away in 2008 at was too young of an age. Dave’s passing left a bunch of us looking for ways to celebrate his involvement in the community of brewers in San Diego. The one thing we all knew about Dave was that he loved Saisons...LOVED them. In this bottle, we have recreated one of Dave’s recipes in the hope of honoring the memories he left us. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this beer will go to a college fund that was created for Dave’s daughter. We thank you for supporting his legacy with each bottle.

UPDATED: MAY 2, 2020 750 ml bottle from an old trade I discovered while rearranging / cleaning my cellar. I had no expectations for this since it is now over 10 years old. Pours a clear dark golden/amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale and sweet malts, honey, light spices, some oxidation, stone fruit, mold herbal tea, very little in the way of farmhouse funk at this point, overall still drinkable and better than I expected it would be.

Pours hazy, barely translucent dark apricot. Aroma features tart pear and banana plus a little fresh malt. Flavor adds a little honey sweetness to.the mix. Mouthfeel delivers good body and fair fizz. He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.

Bottle. Dark yellow/brown pour with a small white head. Malty aromas. Again, this bad boy is way past its prime. All kinds of malty notes. Shadows of the spices and yeasty notes that’s at have dominated this beer. Average body and mouthfeel.

Bomber from a trade. Had at my Saison tasting (from notes). Pours a cloudy orange with a modest head and lots of floaties. Nose was spicy with some citrus sweetness. Taste was still lively for it’s age, with orange peel and an earthy minerality on the tongue. Finished nicely with a fruity, dry aftertaste and lingering yeast flavors. Glad I got to try this one...

Bottle @ Scott’s Summer Saison tasting. Thanks so much Scott! Hazy, golden orange appearance with a nice off-white head. Somewhat oxidized, paper, orange citrusy aroma. Bready, orange citrusy, moderately bready citrusy flavor. Past prime but ok.

I’m told this bottle is an older one. Orange with a large amount of intense spices, and light to moderate fruity esters. sweet sugary malts in the nose along with some touches of oxidation. Flavor is oxidized and extremely spice with a semi fruity crisp finish. Finish is dry and mouthfeel is spritzy. Not too bad but would be good fresh. Thanks Jcr!
