COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Once upon a time, on Friday, November 15th, 1901, an Edwardian brewer stepped into a London brewhouse and brewed a beer that confounds expectations many years later. An ale darker than most Porters that uses more hops than a modern IPA. Thanks once again to the talents of brewing historian, Ron Pattinson, we can reproduce this moment in time from the original brewday document. This ‘KK’ beer is brewed with several pale malts, brown malt, caramelized brewing sugars and two classic English hop varieties, Bramling Cross and Kent Goldings. O.G. 1.075, 7.8% ABV.

glennmastrange (3404) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - NOV 20, 2014
Bottle. Moderate aromas of cereal and nutyy for the malt, herbs for the hops, dough and leather for the yeast, with wood and tobacco in the background. Head is small, frothy turning wispy tan with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is muddy very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily, with a lively carbonation and a tart finish. A rich Old Ale that tastes and smells like grandpa’s den (the one that smoked cigars)

bytemesis (13152) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAR 30, 2014
Bottle thanks to Reynolds314! Pours murky chestnut with a medium brown creamy head that dissipates with nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty, nutty, toffee, bready, a bit woody perhaps. Complex. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, malty, nutty, earthy body. Really strongly bitter finish takes away from an otherwise nice beer. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel.

4.6
AmericanHobo (70) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 7, 2014
A much darker than normal porter. More of a black ale than a strong ale especially with the lower ABV
