Metalchopz (5735) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 5, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 5, 2020 First trip to this brewery, April 2019. Caramel amber colour with a beige head, decent stay and lacing. Malty nose, but quite mild compared to their Barleywine. Rich malty taste with a cutting hoppy finish. Pretty dry mouthfeel for the style. A hoppier Scotch Ale that goes down nicely.

Pours clear copper with a full, light tan head. Aroma is light caramel and clove. Taste is caramel and raisin, moving to bananas and some nice peat. Finish is some light roast. A good Scotch ale.

Draft at the source. Clear deep amber brown color off white head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel. Taste has caramel, light toffee. Very malt forward.

muzzlehatch (4975) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 23, 2018
22 ounce bottle from Pearl Street Beverage in Burlington, VT (November 2016), served at cellar temp from a Maudite glass. Pours a dark translucent amber-bronze, small-to-moderate foamy topping, wispy lace....musty, stale wet malt aroma at first cleans up and becomes slightly more appealing after a few minutes settling, light notes of vanilla appear, a bit of pleasant toasted grain, but it remains underwhelming...it's a bit better once tasted, with some of that appropriate Scotch Ale character, light smokiness and bitterness balanced by a fairly strong caramel malt foundation - but it never quite comes together into anything better than OK, it's a bit too light in both body and flavor, and the finish is syrupy-sweet and just doesn't have enough bitterness or burnt notes to keep it from cloying. Low-ish carbonation; a real mediocrity overall.

Sampler at brewery. Pours brown with a white head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Has some decent peat moss notes on the nose and tongue. Finished clean. Solid but not spectacular.

Pours an orange amber color with no head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and some biscuit. Very sweet flavor with caramel, some biscuit, and toffee. A bit sweet for the style.

tapefuzz (2157) - Massachusetts, USA - SEP 6, 2016
On tap at brewery. Pours clear amber with a small, quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma is toffee malt, grain, and bread. Taste is sugar with some caramel and grain. A little yeast. Average carbonation. Thin, oily mouthfeel.

From the 650 ml. bottle. It pours a kind of reddish-amber with good clarity but a head that fizzes and fades fast. Sweet barley malt character in the aroma and maybe a bit of marshy woodlands. No to low hop profile as to be expected. The body medium. The taste is incredibly sweet like sugar and a notable caramel malt flavor. It ends lightly bitter. Far more sweet than I prefer in my Scotch Ales.
