Originally rated on 1/28/09. Aroma of canned sweet peas and earthy mushrooms, which is hard to ignore. appearance was unusual it was very dark, a burnt amber body with almost no carbonation or head. Flavor was a little better it had slightly bitter hops, and plenty of toasty malts, with an o.k. finish. Overall its drinkable but its an odd beer.

12oz bottle. Orange amber color, small amount of white head. Strange musty aroma - caramel malt flavor with some grassy and earthy hops. Meh.

Pint on draft - this was my third and last beer on the brewery tour so I was already feeling good. Who knows if this influenced my scores one way or another? Good aroma with malt flavors for a pale ale, some hop flavors were noted but could have been a little more. I think the brewery is going for a traditional dry bitterness on all their brews which were a common theme for the different styles. Nice overall.

12 ounce thanks to Cavie. Dark orange for a Pale. Taste is musty. Mellowed. No strong hop presence.

Bottle. Weak body and slight hoppiness. Very unmemorable beer. Slightly metallic lackluster finsih. Poor salamanders, won’t be getting much help from me.

degbert (1797) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - OCT 4, 2010
Bottle. Color is somewhat dark for a pale ale; almost into the amber/marzen range with a fluffy head. Nose has hops citrus, intermixed with an almost strawberry or raspberry note. Hoppy on the tongue, but there’s an herbal note mixed in -- green tea? Rosemary? It’s sharp, but not inherently unpleasant. Carbonation and mouthfeel are good. Average to a bit more than average.

200th rate from the great state of Texas. The beer pours and orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is not too great. I get some caramel, but I also get some nuts, corn and something musty. Definitely not what I expected and somewhat disappointing. The flavor is definitely better than the aroma, but it is still just average. I get a lot of nuttiness, along with some bready and toffee malts. To help keep things in balance, there is also a good amount of earthy and grassy hop characteristics. The beer is very balanced, not being very bitter or sweet. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Disappointing overall.
