COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

On bottle. Pours dark red, with nice beige head. It smells like a typical Belgian beer - what you would expect. A bit of caramel and spices. The taste is intense, a little alcoholic/red wine-ish. Small hints of chocolate.

500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Hazy brown colour, moderate off-white to beige head. Fairly nice aroma of brown malts, brown sugar and spices (star anise and coriander), hints of orange peel. Nice malty flavour, not too sweet but still with notes of brown sugar, the star anise is fortunately used with moderation, and does not dominate. The coriander and orange peel seem also to have been used with moderation - all in all a fairly well balanced beer.

The foam is not strong and persistent but leaves some fine thin layer of foam. The aroma is very rich of fruit and malt and the taste has distinct Belgian touch in a good way. Rich in fruit with orange peel predominantly hue. Coriander and a little star anise spice taste back of the throat and it adds a delicate feel. The sweetness is by no means sticky or cloying, but framing the sweeping view a light hop bitterness in the final. It is a really tasty ale. Definitely a Christmas beer of the best.
