COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Built on a dual algorithm written alongside our friends from Sun King Brewery, this new, complex Imperial Ale was brewed with maple sugar, dark candi syrup, and a blend of Belgian yeast cultures. An early switch from Tennessee whiskey to Kentucky bourbon barrels ensured the integrity of the code–with the addition of unfermented blackberries for balancing sweetness and subtle tartness.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2021 Burk från Revolution, 2018. Lite murken kloakbrun med något lila-röda toner. Tungt, maltigt, quad:iga toner, mjuk bärighet och bara lätt syrlig touch från björnbären. Gifter sig snyggt med belgiska jästen. Vissa hetta från fat och alkohol. Gott.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2018 12 oz. can shared by Keith - thanks again, Keith! Pours a cloudy reddish amber, deep in hue, with a small off-white head that settles into a ring. This is like a hybrid between a mead and barleywine, with notes of blackberry and some dried dark fruits like raisins and dates, along with caramel, fruitcake, brown sugar, vanilla, oak, and some warmth. Medium-full bodied, with modest carbonation and a sweet, rich, fruity mouthfeel. Big and bold.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2018 12 ounce can. Pours a mostly clear reddish brown with a small pink head. Aroma of malt, caramel, yeast, bourbon, and fruit. Taste is caramel malt, yeast, bourbon, and blackberries. Interesting.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2018 Shared 12 oz. can poured to a goblet at our 2018 Thanksgiving Tasting showing a cloudy, burgundy color, with a modest layer of off white froth that diminished quickly to a thin ring, and minimal lacing. The nose was subtle Belgian yeast & spice notes, dark fruit, berries, and slight vegetal/celery hints, with some lurking barrel influence. Medium bodied, with good carbonation, the taste was similar notes less the oddities, syrupy sweet yet tangy, with boozy bourbon presence. A solid Dark Strong Ale.

10/17/18 (Chicago): $6.81 5 ounce sample pour into snifter at the Revolution release event held at the brewpub. Dark red murky pour, no head or lacing. Mild whiskey aroma, nice and sweet. Sweet syrupy berry mix, balanced by a strong whiskey taste, very nicely balanced. Razor thin texture, fruity sweetness hits the tongue sharply, dry taste, very easy drinking. Overall very good offering, sweeter than I typically seek, but this is a very good offering. This brew was switched from Jack Daniels barrels to Wild Turkey.

Can shared by Adam, thanks! Pours a clear deep purple with a white head that starts at the edges and dissipates completely. Aroma has bourbon and sweet grains with some maple and blackberry underlying. Flavor has sweet grains and vanilla with a good amount of maple and a touch of blackberry underlying. Odd combo.

Can to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a malty and semi-translucent black cherry with fizzy light pink head that quickly dissipates into very thin lacing kept alive only by the ongoing carbonation. Smells RICH and malty with notes of toffee and caramel alongside blackberry, oak, Belgian yeast, hops, and whiskey. Tastes like it smells with a slightly tart, moderately warming, and lightly syrupy full-bodied mouthfeel. A good sipper, but a little goes a long way. Tastes like what I would describe as a hoppy BA Belgian barley wine aged on blackberries. There's a lot going on here.
