COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster’s interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

Editor’s Note: this entry is for all batches EXCEPT batches 23, 46 and 69 see separate entry.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2019 On tap at Toranado, SF. I didn't know what style this was (didn't look it up), assumed a sour. It's not, but it's a really nice Belgian strong ale. Yeasty, sweet, pretty classic.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2019 Cant believe I haven't ticked this yet, at least 5-6 bottles over the last 10 years or so. Cloudy golden with a small white head and decent lace. Notes are yeast, banana, rich malt, fruits, citrus, and other classic Belgian stuff. Medium in body with a complex close.

TH28 (557) - - JUN 2, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2019 375ml bottle. 12/21/18 bottle date. Appearance: Cloudy light golden with a massive fluffy white head driven by aggressive secondary fermentation. Aroma: Grass, hay, and herbal hop notes. Some bready and cracker malt as well. Low yeast fruity esters. Taste: Bready maltiness is fairly light sweetness, a touch of pear and apple esters, and an herbal, earthy hop bitterness that builds strongly against the light malt base. Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied. A surprisingly light creaminess given the light color. Really high carbonation. Finish: An interesting mix of light fruity esters against a fairly strong herbal hop bitterness. Nice contrast. Overall: a wonderful light Belgian pale ale, balancing the lightest touch of fruity esters against a fairly aggressive herbal and earthy bitterness. Beautiful head driven by a really high carbonation. Awesome beer.

monkeychugg55 (1168) - Joliet, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2019
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2019 Cork popped out as soon as I took the cage off (be careful people). Highly carbonated hazy yellow with a huge growing, rocky head. Took 4 separate pours and a lot of waiting to get it in a large Duvel tulip. Moderate esters on the aroma with mellow bubblegum, pear, and mild phenolic spices. The flavor is much like the aroma, with added pineapple notes that start sweet, then finish with a well balanced bitterness and dryness. No real trace of alcohol. Well done.
