BelgianBeerGal (5522) - Panama City, Florida, USA - DEC 26, 2021UPDATED: DEC 26, 2021 Can from Zac enjoyed while they starved in Denton. It’s an old school double IPA like DFH 120. Big malt backbone, hints of toffee, medium bitterness, light booze, and a touch of pineapple. Nice classic.
ttoadee (3175) - Austin, Texas, USA - SEP 17, 2021UPDATED: SEP 17, 2021 Gold pour, ginormous just off white head. Nose is malt and citrus. Middle rolls out caramel, orange zest, medium kilned solid malt backbone, stone fruit, and floral hops. Finish shows the ABV some, but sits on the malt and citrus.
KevinReddirt (1138) - Midland, Texas, USA - JUL 2, 2021UPDATED: JUL 2, 2021 A recent trip to Houston to see my son gave the chance to bring back a 12 oz can of Double Down. My Buffalo Bayou tulip glass is arrayed and I do the pour. The body is a shiny, clear gold with a head of glorious white foam. The smell is fruity in a good beer way along with grass and a subdued pine. A drink, wow, this is pretty fine and that comes from being not a big fan of IPAs in general. A pineapple sweetness along with grapefruit and lemon rind, honeydew, a decent hop influence, a corresponding bitterness and a good completeness in mouthfeel. Kudos for the brewer.
