COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This traditional lager is medium in body with a deep roasted character. Its dark color and rich malty flavor come from specially roasted caramel and chocolate malts. This brew is lightly hopped with Noble Bavarian hops for a soft spiciness and a smooth clean finish. Cheers!

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2020 Roasted malts aroma. Poured dark brown with off white lace top. Taste is medium sweet to bitter with light coffee notes. Palate is medium bodied oily texture average carbonation and a bitter finish. Overall not bad.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2018 Pours very dark brown, with a rocky tan head. Pleasingly hefty mouthfeel. Chocolate, roasted grain, and a hint of soy sauce. Sweet enough, a lot of times this style seems too dry to me.

DATE: November 4, 2018... OCCASION: AFV with the fam after a solid weekend... GLASSWARE: Sam Adams lager... pours a nearly opaque, velvety black body, supporting a thick two-fingered off-white foam whose resiliency is not to be believed... its aroma is an intriguing mix of chocolate, lactose and caramel, with hints of licorice, light pepper, and roasted malts... its mouthfeel is light, smooth, and almost apologetic--retaining its lagerish qualities, it offers a creamy, albeit thin, experience... it has some bubble to it as well...its flavor profile doesn't quite fulfill its aromatic promise, but again, to be fair to a lager, how much could it while retaining its drinkability? not overthinking this too much--as many upcoming holiday parties will offer it--I find this a schwarzbier that doesn't bring a distinguishing feature, which ensures it pairs agreeably with any number of finger foods...

Not a fan of black lagers but this came with a sampler 12 pack. About like other black lagers in that it smells decent but the taste is all wrong. Dark malts was not intended to be lagered. They are for stouts, porters, and other brews meant for them.

12 oz bottle in Florida. BB date notched March 2019. Pours clear with a near black body with brown edges and a decent tan head. This Schwarzbier is true to style but unexceptional. Feel: smooth medium body with medium carbonation

Rich dark brown with hints of copper. Tan head. Bright roast malt aroma, hints of spicy hops, light cocoa. Taste is richer cocoa, hint of bitterness, lager crispness. light to medium mouthfeel. A good example of the style, I think.

Bottle from the mixed 12 pack from Market Basket. Mostly clear deep brown with a frothy off white head that persists. Rich bready toasty malt with bits of chocolate and caramel. Faint floral hops. Not bad for entry level.
