COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

PhillyCraft (11988) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 6, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 6, 2019 Bottle, clear golden with bigger head. Notes are cracker, grain, grass, cardboard, and ash. Light bodied with too much carbonation. Drinkable at the percent and style but a really bad example of a Czech pils

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2018 Bottles and draughts back in 2011/2012, if I remember correctly.
Mostly clear, maybe a hint of chill haze. Lime-tinted bronze with a small, white head atop showing modest retention.
Nose definitely imparts the hops pretty well and they're ok, reasonably aromatic, but suffer from the general shittiness that pervades their production brewery. The beers come out muddled and lightly dirty; just heavily, heavily processed/over-produced. Soap, wet hay, acid and heavy lemon mix with heavy biscuit and light sourdough. This could have been good.
In the mouth it's the same problem every time, as mentioned in the aroma. Chalky, lightly metallic, bland and muddled with no clarity or brightness. Heavy acidity and they've obviously tossed a boatload of hops, but it comes off crude and forceful rather than aromatic and flavorful. Heavy carbonation, thick textures and basic white bread-like sweetness. Floral, perfumey, bitter and acidic on the end.

It pours golden and is fairly clear. It has a white head with moderate head retention. It has a spicy aroma with bread and floral elements. It has a bready flavor with some spiciness, light citrus and floral elements. It has a moderately light feel with moderate bitterness in the finish. Overall, it is a fairly flavorful, easy drinking beer.

12 oz. bottle. AROMA: Light scents of citrus and banana APPEARANCE: Pours a light golden color with a tight, white head that dissipates quickly TASTE: Musty and sour with a bit of bitter on the backend. PALATE: Light-bodied with a thin texture. Carbonation is lively and the finish is on the bitter side. OVERALL: This certainly is not another "me too" beer, as it has quite a unique flavor. However, the sour flavor definitely doesn't match the sweetish nose. With a unique flavor profile like this one, you are either going to love it or hate it. In my case, I'm not a fan.

Pours a clear gold color with a small white head and decent retention. Limited lacing. Sour-ish hoppy nose. Tastes musty and flat with a herbal hops finish. Pass.

Amber with floral aroma. Appears to be reminiscent of a typical pilsener but is somewhat on the weaker side. Not a bad beer, it has good floral notes throughout the body; however, not nearly as intense as I had anticipated.

"Bought a single of this to sample before deciding on a 6-pack of this seasonal brew. Trying to find anything way above average on this one, but just can't find much. Smell...about average. Appearance, on the slightly orange side for a pilsner, clear....but still about average. Flavor is decent, on the hoppy side for a pilz thats for sure! I like that part of it, as I have always enjoyed a good pilsner. I'd almost rate the flavor an 8, but more like a mid to upper 7. But besides that there are better pilsners out there. I'll probably skip on buyin that 6-pack and either go with another one of Sammy's brews or something else in this style.

Good beer. Sam Adams has good lagers after trying some from this case. Would buy again and drink whenever. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
