UPDATED: JAN 2, 2022 Pour is a dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is ginger and a minor cinnamon. Flavor is some ginger and allspice. Nice spicy flavor. Not a huge spice but just enough to make this a decent beer.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2019 12 ounce can at the Winking Lizard in Copley Ohio. Smells lightly spiced. Caramel in color with white head. Strong taste of cinnamon. Somewhat sweet. Smooth and light bodied. Light spice aftertaste. Nice holiday beer. Cheers!

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2018 Can sample. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate berry and spice aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate spice sweet flavor with a moderate spice sweet finish of medium duration. This beer just met my expectations.

When we drank this in December the clove was very strong. I found another can, and it still drinks really clovey. Amber color out of the can with a short lived off white head. Big clove spice nose. This is still a very spicy beer with lots of clove, nutmeg and some cinnamon. Nice, strongly spiced Christmas beer.

Saucy has exploded on the scene with cans that catch the eye's focus and flavors that catch the palate's attention. This fun winter warmer might not dethrone Christmas Ale but it does give the established breweries just down the road in Ohio City a little notice.

Aroma / Appearance - The warm bronze base shines with a soft dusty head for company. Allspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg tickle the air with a festive texture. Only a medicinal edge knocks it down a level or two.

Flavor / Palate - Spiced mulled wine, nutmeg, and cinnamon warm the throat. The easy drinking beer melts as it hits the palate. If you threw (even) more spices into Great Lakes Christmas Ale it would probably resemble this. Hopefully with a few tweaks it will have the same staying power.
