UPDATED: JUN 16, 2020 Caramel malty aroma, caramel color with white head, tastes of grains, slightly sweet, mild carbonation, fairly typical for an amber brew, nothing special, but not bad.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2020 Can and tap. Aroma of caramel and roast. Taste brings toffee with sweet malts and a balance carbonation.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2019 Bottle/Fest. A- Caramel, malty, slightly sweet. A- Amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Caramel, malty, sweet, mild grains. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- A no frills beer that does the style justice. Very drinkable even if it's not a hot new craze type of beer. Perhaps a touch on the sweet side but not bad at all.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2019 I've got to say that I'm really enjoying all of these Schell beers being available in Nebraska. Are they unique or eye-opening. Well, no, but then, they're not trying to be. All of the beers that I've bought from them so far have been inexpensive, unpretentious, and satisfying. They're the kind of beers that you drink straight from the cooler. FireBrick's quality is consistent with the others. This red lager is malty, smooth, sweet, fizzy, and light-medium bodied. Bitterness is nearly non-existent. This is a barbecue or patio beer to drain straight from the bottle.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2019 12 ounce bottle from Festival Foods dePere, 4/3/19. Clear red, fizzy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, earth, metal. Taste is tart citrus, toffee, caramel. Medium bodied, crisp. Okay.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2018 12 ounce bottle. Very true to style Vienna Lager. Copper color, good carbonation. Not much for aroma. Good balance of hops and malt. Refreshing.

GNBF. Bottle. Poured amber, off white head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malt. Taste was mild bittersweet, malty, light grass, toasted biscuit.

Pint can. Caramel malt aroma with notes of toasted malt, grain and grass. Pours clear amber colored with a large tan head that has excellent retention and little lacing. Starts with toasted malt and grainy malt flavors. Finishes smooth and a touch dry with nice caramel malt and some grass flavors. Pretty good Vienna lager.

Poured into a footed pilsner glass. Abundant caramel aroma, slightly smoky. Excellent appearance as it is poured directly to the bottom of the glass, with the very tall head rising from the bottom to a 2 inch slightly off-white to tan thick and creamy head that lingers, receding quite slowly while leaving a thick lacing. Golden amber with plenty of small rising bubbles. The pilsner glass shows off this beer to excellent effect. Very flavorful, dominated by the caramel malts with smoky hints. Smooth and moderate (not thin at all) feel. Slightly bitter on the initial taste, moderating in the middle, leading to some bitterness in the aftertaste, but the malts remain throughout. (Based on some of the reviews, the hops were better represented than I was anticipating.) Well balanced. Recommended for those looking for a well-done American-brewed Vienna-style lager.

Very similar to their Oktoberfest perhaps a shade darker in a touch more roasty. Like with a lot of Schell beers a short-lived head with no lace.
