COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
Hailing from the tradition of 18th Century IPAs, which relied on generous hopping to protect exports during arduous journeys, this modern incarnation retains the strength, body and strong hop character which is synonymous with this beer’s provenance.

A glorious showcase of the distinct, heavily hopped beers for which Shepherd Neame is famed, India Pale Ale delivers potent bitterness, offset with generous amounts of pale ale malt to deliver a balanced, yet uncompromising brew.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2021 .5 bottle. Clear dark copper, low, stable, creamy, off-white head, some lacing. Aroma caramel, malty, fruity, toffee, slightly citrusy, hints of grain coffee. Taste full, sweetish, smooth. Carbonation medium to high, tingling. Bitterness rather high, short, herbal. Aftertaste grassy, flowers, toffee, biscuits. Quite nice EIPA, thoroughly enjoyable.

TEJA (5075) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 23, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2021 Bottle sampled at Tallink-Silja Symphony between Stockholm and Helsinki. Big semi lasting white fluffy head. Clear amber color. Big malty aroma with a touch of caramell malt. Firm bitterness and nice maltiness. This is a good atempt too brew a historic Ipa that it might have tasted in the old days.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2021 Pours a clear and flat reddish amber with medium slightly off white head that somewhat lasted. Aroma is malt and warm spice. Taste is molasses malt nicely balanced with acetone bitterness that ramps up as sweet declines. Medium body, slightly oil mouthfeel and almost no carbonation. Overall, a nice brew but to me seems a bit to clean and clear, I like em dirty.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2021 Brytyjski charakter i przyjemny słód są, jak najbardziej, ale jednak nieco zbyt dużo ziołowości i słodycz lekko wchodząca na finiszu w zielone jabłko. Mimo to chmiel przyjemnie czuć i aromat ładny, no i umiarkowanie mocno wyczuwalny gładki słód. Nierówne.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2021 Bottle from my local grocery store ‘Loco’. Pours a clear copper colour with a medium sized thick creamy white head. Aroma is fruity with caramel, toasty bread and a little spice. Taste has lots of caramel and burnt toasty bread with peppery spice. There is also a tobacco, leathery and earthy note that lingers on the palate on the bitter finish. Medium to full body, average carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Seems suitable for the colder months. Quite a good beer.

snowcrash000 (1790) - Cologne, GERMANY - AUG 21, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2021 Pours a clear, deep amber coloration with a ruby tint and a medium, frothy head. Smells of bready, grainy, slightly caramelly malt and grassy, herbal, slightly resinous hops. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of bready, grainy, slightly caramelly malt and grassy, herbal and slightly resinous hops, with just a hint of orange peel and pine coming through as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some bready, grainy malt and herbal, resinous hops lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. I think this makes for a pretty nice English IPA with a good balance of malt and hops. While the hops are a little bit in the background here, with the grainy, sweet'ish malts setting the tone, there are definitely some good bitter, herbal and slightly resinous notes to this, with just a hint of citrus as well, balancing out those malts nicely. While it may not be bursting with hop aromatics, an English IPA isn't really supposed to be. It's more about the balance, which works out very well here. Overall, this makes for an enjoyable example of the style that is well-balanced and goes down easy.

DraftPupil66 (429) - - AUG 12, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2021 500ml bottle from Auchan store, drinking it on 12/08/2021 Pours a clear amber with a medium sized frothy beige head and moderate lacing, quite visible carbonation with upwards going small bubbles. Good aroma of malt, fruity notes including come citrus and grapefruit, berries, baked apple, also caramel, toffee and good herbal, resinous and earthy hops that mix well together, not just hoppy forward aroma. Taste is malty and moderate to medium sweet with good caramel, fruit notes grapefruit, berries, toffee and biscuit, then moderate but kind of lingering bitter hops, quite earthy and spiced hoppy finish. Could be more bitter for sure but i still find it balanced and very easily drinkable like it is, quite fresh and interesting taste too. Medium body at best and slightly oily texture, moderate carbonation and very easy to sip, 6.1% abv that doesn't get much noticed.. very easy and smooth but really ok tasting, maybe not that much of an IPA overall more like a malty hoppy ale but quite enjoyable and the one that you can really relax and enjoy, surprisingly light and pleasant taste and mouthfeel.
