alexsdad06 (16451) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUL 20, 2019UPDATED: JUL 20, 2019 This is a backlog rating from 2011 from a bottle shared by Tmoney99, from notes. When I had this beer it was average to below average for the style and not something I wanted to have again or I just didn't get back to my notes because of my technology at the time. Words to describe this beer are macro like and not worth the effort.
Prolitariat777 (102) - St george, Utah, USA - AUG 24, 2015Had to rat this as my 102 rating. Wheat aroma with banana and some oxidized nutty scent. Not too bad with e oxidation, ok kind of added. Finished fairly grainy and cereal like. Ok brew.
GreatDane1632 (1177) - North Dakota, USA - JUL 3, 2015Rated based on notes taken 23 June 2012 -- Damn good Shiner beer. Took me a year to finally find and try this brew.
Beerdedone (4044) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 26, 2014Bottle. Pours golden with a thin white head. Aroma of wheat, bread, and grass. Flavor of sweet wheat, bready malts, citrus, grass and a bit of honey.
TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 25, 2014Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with white head. Raw wheat mainly on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little sweetness.
DrSilverworm (11039) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 6, 201412oz bottle, from the Bellevue Cafe. Poured into a pint glass. Clear golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Couple bits of lace. Kind of a flavorless aroma. Some metallic, mustiness, and light pepper. Some wheat, caramel malt, orange citrus and mustly old bottle cooler mild metallic smell. After some searching, I found a date on the bottle, it seems to read 1/25/12... I’m happy for the chance to try it, but age doesn’t seem to have done anything for it, and $3.50 isn’t exactly a steal for such an old beer. Some moderate sweet taste, light bitterness. Medium body. Lightly slick. Light carbonation. Some bigger toffee malt mustiness. Not a great wheat beer (right now, anyway).
hotstuff (5394) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - APR 13, 2014Rated on 6-21-2011. This bottled beer’s appearance is a small white head with a short retention, yellow transparent body, fast rising, fizzy carbonation observed, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, wheat, hops, and sweet. The taste is sweet, semi-crisp, malt, wheat, and hops. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this is a light-medium bodied beer. Overall, the aroma is better than the flavor as the flavors just do not come together very well.
maniac (3801) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 1, 2014Bottle on 03/07/2011 courtesy of Butters. Clear golden yellow body with a medium frothy white head. Sweet honey and light wheat aroma. Dry wheat and honey flavor. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.
JacksBeer (5) - Bristol, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 19, 2013 does not count Good mellow beer with pleasant taste and bitterness. Reasonably priced for a craft beer
Lemke10 (1009) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 24, 2013Pours a clear copper color with a thick head that gradually disappears. Scent is very strong with wheat and has scents of malts and some citrus. Taste is very wheaty almost to the point of being too wheaty. Tastes like an in-between of a wheat beer and a rye beer. Still rather tasty but not my favorite Shiner beer. Rather odd that it’s a double wheat beer and yet so clear.
