A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

UPDATED: APR 27, 2021 Dark as fuck red beer! Tastes like a chestnut beer, or some kind of nut. I.like it, but wouldn't buy it regularly. BUT would drink it again!

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2021 Old rating from 2013 - 355ml bottle from the National Brewery Museum in Burton upon Trent. Pours black with a off white foamy head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, coffee, nuts & roasted malt. Moderate body. Smooth finish.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2021 12oz bottle shared with virtual commonshawn and blonderedhead. Pours black with quick to dissipate head. Nose is malty, biscuit with mild roasty notes. Taste carries caramel and roasty malt characteristics. Mild chocolate. Finishes really well. Pretty impressed.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2021 Bottle with commonmac during the virtual shiner brewery tour. Black with small off white head that dissipates quickly. Light nose. Big malt character, medium body. Not great, but actually decent.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2020 Bottle. Pours dark brown. Biscuit, cola, little toast. Not much body. Distinctly average.

UPDATED: APR 5, 2020 Bottle. Roasted malt aroma with notes of chocolate, bread and some coffee. Pours black with half a finger of tan head that has excellent retention and lacing. Starts with roasted malt and chocolate malt flavors. Finishes smooth bready malt and some coffee flavors. Pretty nice black lager.

Pours black with small creamy tan head
Light roast flavor of coffee, wood and bread with light caramel.
Light bodied with medium co2, quick roast finish.
Easy drinking schwarzbier.

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2019 12 ounce bottle at the house. Smell the malt. Black in color. small head and some film on glass. Taste the malt. Smooth. Very drinkable. Malted after taste. Could drink plenty. Cheers!

Bottle. Pretty much black with a cream colored head. Roasted malt aroma with a touch of chocolate. Pretty light bodied. Roasty and slightly sweet
