Jerseyislandbeer (3514) - JERSEY - JUN 13, 2021UPDATED: JUN 13, 2021 Old rating - 355ml bottle, pours hazy orange with a white head. Aromas & tastes of lemon, banana, grapefruit, spices, honey, bread & malt. Moderate body. Light bitter finish
Beese (12774) - Tooting, London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 18, 2020UPDATED: MAR 18, 2020 12oz bottle from Vieux Carre Wines & Spirits, New Orleans, LA and drunk on 25/06/2008. A so-so hefeweizen; definitely quite drinkable, but lacking complexity and depth.
Jabah (2479) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - APR 19, 2018This is my second sample of the 100 year Family Reunion variety pack. Like the first one that I tried, Shiner Bock, this beer smelled skunky. My retailer had these 6'ers stored on the unrefridgerated shelf, so could have been that. Made up for it again though with flavor. The first couple sips tasted a bit sour, but the beer grew on me towards the end. Appearance was hazy/cloudy like the first sample.....darker yellowish slightly orange color. Tastes of mainly wheat and malt with a little bit of bitterness from the hops. Had a bit of a "Belgian" feel, which I liked as it seemed a little fruitier and not as wheaty most of the other Hefs that I tried. I might have liked the bock better, but this was good to try.
BeerRenter76 (1097) - Texas, USA - SEP 11, 2015Originally rated on 10/8/06.Sweet smell with hints of citrus and spices, slightly cloudy, decent mouthfeel. This is an acceptable hefe, fairly good but the are alot better ones out there. Worth trying
GreatDane1632 (1177) - North Dakota, USA - MAY 15, 2015Rated based on notes taken 16 Nov 2012 -- When in Texas, drink as a Texan. A decent Hef. Refreshing.
rdixon77 (3705) - Georgia, USA - MAR 30, 2015Old rating. Hazy orange-gold. Normal wet wheat body. Some honey and spices (ginger?), but fairly bland wheat style overall. Just okay.
chinchill (6213) - South Carolina, USA - FEB 11, 201512 oz bottle served in a snifter. (from June 2012 notes)
A - apricot-gold in color, like apple juice, with a short-lived small head. Some sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
S - The nose is a rather with a quality more like an adjunct lagr than, say, a typical German Hefeweizen or replica thereof, such as the Baltika 8 that followed this beer.
T: Despite the claim to be a Hefeweizen, this is like a cross of that style with an Amer. lager.
M - Medium-light body; Somewhat low carbonation.
O - Not bad, certainly, but not true to style (no deduction for that in this review) and rather bland and low in flavor.
brandon1989 (847) - Lewisville, Texas, USA - JAN 29, 2015Pours a hazy golden color with a medium white head that left some lacing around the glass. The aroma is wheat, citrus, and lemon. The taste is similar with some orange and breadiness.
Metalchopz (5735) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 15, 2014Originally rated December 2010. Thanks to my parents for bringing this one back from the States. Big foamy white head that stays a long, long time, and creates patchy lacing. Hazy golden-beige colour with decent carbonation. Mild aromas and taste of wheat malt with a touch of citrus. An overall refreshing hefeweizen, but lacking the punch that are found in German ones.
tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - SEP 25, 2014UPDATED: SEP 29, 2014 Bottle: Banana-straw colored body, highly muddled with a fluffy white head; long lasting. Aroma is more like a kolsch or witbier than a hefeweizen. Very mild, too. Some strange tartness... Green apple skins, grapes, pears, light yeasty pepper notes & faint spice. Taste is full of sweet pale malt, grains, mild wheat, & big notes of tart apple skin, lemon, & grape. Biscuit finish with a lingering metallic note. Thin, wishy washy mouth feel. Mediocre on the grand scale, even worse when considering the supposed style.
