Older bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour hazy copper with thin ecru head. Nose caramel, dank, earthy, prune. Taste raisin, toffee, caramel, then dank hop flavors. A little oxidation from age. I liked it better fresh on tap, but that was before I was rating.

6 years old and still great. Pours dirty dark brown with a small beige foam that quickly reduces to a ring. Aroma is plum, raisin, slight roast with the sweetness from the bourbon. Taste is smooth, liquor like body, silky, raisin, plum, fig, slight peat and bourbon sweetness. Not too much alcohol burn but just enough to let you know it’s there.

Laying in the back for 6 years. Cloudy deeo amber pour, ring of off white head. Nose is baked caramel. Bittersweet . Middle is lightly smoked oak, vanilla, caramel, hints of rum, DEEP malt backbone. Finish is warm, boozy, and malty with a hunt of stone fruit.

Dark amber to copper in color. Moderate, but stable light beige head. Scents of caramel and citric hops. Nicely balanced. really just a big celebration ale. 7/10

With Z, pours a dark deep rusty brown color with a nice beige head. Nose is sweet caramel and syrupy. Taste is sweet and hoppy , smooth and nicely balanced. Not over the top sweet like most strong ales. Finishes on the same tasting notes with a nice bittersweet finish . Quaff Score 7 / 10

Pours amber with off white head. Nose of hops and musk. Taste is surprisingly hoppy with caramel and sweet orange zest. Big alcohol on the finish. From Old Notes.

magsinva (1655) - Virginia, USA - DEC 30, 2015
Bottle from the NC brewery - this one is pretty to look at, but I’m afraid there might be something wrong with the bottle, or it hasn’t aged well. I’m not getting any of the cherry or fruity notes that others describe, just boring piney bitterness. Pass.

DiarmaidBHK (7594) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 30, 2015
Bottle from Sierra Nevada NC. Pours brown with a thick khaki head. leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. not a lot on the nose. a bit of wood on the tongue and a lot of bitterness on the finish. I would have loved to have tried this one fresh. I don’t think it’s aged well.

3.8
sonnycheeba (7971) - Maryland, USA - NOV 21, 2015
Tap at falling rock. Pours deep ruby. Aroma is cherries, caramel, bready malts, floral hops, and and faint oak. Flavor is decently hoppy with faint sweet caramel notes, and a dry oaky finish. Medium body.
